When I was about 7 years old, I went with my father and (by then) only brother to some quiet place in the south, with rivers and trees and forest.
The thing I most remember was when we were at a cabin complex in construction and my father was talking to a bearded man. They walked and talked and walked some more, we had to follow them. We must have been there for an hour or so, and we got bored, so we played and imagined things. I can't remember what things, but it kept us distracted for the hour or so.
And I remember there were dogs, they started fighting, maybe. Maybe they were just kidding around, I don't know, but they were barking and just all around dog fighting, I think I went in, but I know I got hurt, and I must have cried because I cried a lot back then. But those dogs hurt me and they weren't mad at me, and at the time it seemed really bizzare. But now, if you tell me some kid walked into some fighting dogs then I wouldn't be surprised at all if he got hurt or bitten, in fact it strikes me as natural.
Actually I think that never happened at all, I remember my grandfather's dogs fighting and me walking into them, I don't know why I did it, but afterwards I definitely remember crying and getting consoled by my Aunt. And my grandfather definitely had a beard.
I did read something about the mind remembering events that actually never happened, so it doesn't surprise me at all that I had this memory about a bearded man and his two mean dogs who fight with each other and then attack me.
But it would surprise me if my grandfather's dogs never bit me. Why would I remember it, if it never happened, maybe I dreamed it?
Why would I randomly dream about dogs fighting with each other and attacking me? If it didn't happen, where does the whole image come from? You can't randomly make things appear, not even thoughts. If I tried to think about a new color, I wouldn't be able to, so if I think about a color, I must already have seen it, therefore you can only think about things you have seen or otherwise experienced before, the next logical step would be that I had already seen this events before, maybe a movie?
I wonder what my philosophy teacher would tell me if I proved to him that two dogs,to whom I never did anything against, hurt me. I think he would ask me something along the lines of "¿Why does your inability to imagine a new colour prove that imagination necessarily proceeds experience?", to which I would answer "You don't get me" nobody does, and I would lock myself up in a room, like in a dream, where I am at school in one moment and at home the next one.
Lewis Carrol did that, Matt Groening too, geniously; in Alice in Wonderland and in that Simpson's Halloween treehouse of horror special were Bart dreams that his teachers at school are inconspicously (except that time where Mr. Skinners blatantly admits it) eating their students; respectively.
Man, that was a great Simpons' episode.
