What was the best year of RuneScape?

2010 (Bh worlds and pre Eoc dg)

 

I like every year in it's own special way.

2005- Being a complete noob, matriculated to Runescape from the Miniclip game "Robot Rage". I originally thought that Runescape was entirely linear and that tutorial island was what the whole game would be like, always having a set goal or purpose. Then I got thrown into Lumbridge and had no clue what to do.
2006- Dreaming of Guthix armour and a green mask. Finally achieved it, then dreamed of getting a Green Partyhat. It was probably 20-25M at the time..so much money.
2007- Attaining Green Partyhat. Attaining Dragon Chainbody at like 82 combat (& still being invincible in Castle Wars).
2008- Working towards 99 untrimmed RC cape via old school abyss (this started in 2007).
2009- Getting 99 RC, bought Blue Partyhat & Red to go along with Green (99 rc gave me like 350m, and I bought the hats when there was no free trade so they were a lot cheaper).
2010-2013: Got more 99s, dreamed of a partyhat set. Thought my goal was over when I accidentally, like a complete dimwit, traded my red by accident to a friend instead of loaning it (friend of 5+ years, knew it was a mistake but refused to give it back). Through merchanting and a good samaritan giving me a White Partyhat, I finally got a set on February 18th, 2013. Then joined 2007, where I have since made 60M+ merchanting and bought myself all of the old god armours, a phat set, and a dragon chainbody in that version of the game as well (Which were my only goals). The good samaritan gave me the hat because they had been friends with me since early 2005 and knew it was my ultimate goal, I have since made a good amount and have given a lot of it back to feel like I truly earned the set...but I will never forget that act of selflessness. It really gave me hope for the world, as corny as that sounds given it's just Runescape.

Possible goals now: 99 slayer in RS 3. 99 RC untrimmed in 07.

 

tbh, from 07 through 2011? have to be the best years of RuneScape, the updates thereafter became appalling though

 

Classic was by far my favourite period of RS. Partyhats, Masks, Santas, incredibly strange looking monsters, only a few skills, it was just fantastic.

Of modern RS: Like Roary said, before the armour updates.

Honestly, it was the trade limit era.

 

That's what I'm saying. I remember coming home after a day at school growing up, (I was probably 9 years old when I started lol) and being in stitches just to maybe kill 40 Minotaurs at the Stronghold of Security or to chop oak trees.

 

Probably between 2006-2010. Best years IMO before they started getting into all the weird updates.

 

2004 when i started playing with a irl friend at school, rs made school much more chilled

2012 when i reached 2k total
2013 when i reached 2,4k total

on the other side i hate 2013 as a rs year, since my 2,4k main got banned

 

Probably, 2011. Free trade came back and I was able to enjoy runescape a little more.

2011 for definate, everything was perfect. And I'll always stick by my belief that gambling was a huge part of it. Yer it created a massive variation in wealth of players but it also made the markets on runescape and off runescape thrive

2008 was for me the best year

 

2010-2011 when there were no clan chats and only friends chats and everything was just so much better

I remember a similar thread to this, everyone said 2007 and that turned out pretty lame IMO. I actually prefer Rs3 over all the older versions. Probably second would be 2011.
