Have YOU ever wanted to play the guitar?!

Well then, today's your lucky day. I've been teaching the guitar for a few years and have been playing it for many more.

    I can teach anything from:
    • Basics
    • Theory
    • Technique
    • Lead & Rhythm playing
    • Specific songs
    • Specific genres
    • And anything else that you ask of me..

I can teach both the electric and acoustic guitars.

What do you need to have?

    • A guitar
    • Skype (preferably on a laptop or a desktop and not on a phone)
    • A DECENT webcam and a microphone

    Prices

Well since playing and teaching are more of a passion that I have rather than a job, my prices are very reasonable.
    $7 an hour.

My timings are very flexible and can be changed according to your needs. Also I only get paid AFTER the lesson (unless you want to do a prepaid thing, then I'm okay with that as well)

Any potential student I get will have a 15 minute long Skype session with me for us to assess:

    1. Whether or not they are the right students for me.
    2. Whether or not I am the right teacher for them.
    3. The student's level of playing.
    4. Background about myself and the student.

So if you're interested just post below or send me a message and we'll get going from there!

(Also, if this is in the wrong section, sorry and I hope the mods can move it to the right place)

Thanks a lot mate! I just love playing and teaching so much, which is why I'm really not overcharging (I would do it for free, but I have to at least kind of pay some bills! :p)

Good luck on selling your N64 :)

    what credintials do you have?

    any vids of your work?

why should i choose to pay you to learn the guitar when i could do it on my own, or have my brother teach me who has went to a 2 year musical college.

or pay the lead singer/guitarist in my brothers band whos been playing for over 25 years

Well I've been playing the guitar for just under ten years and have been teaching it for the past 4 years, some might argue that it was too early for me to become a teacher but then again you can look at people like Rusty Cooley, who became a teacher after playing the guitar for just three years. (I'm not comparing myself to Rusty Cooley, I'm just saying.) Unfortunately, I never got around to taking a video of myself (well I have in the past but that footage is long gone now.)

As to why you should pay for lessons rather than teach yourself, lessons are almost always better than learning on your own (assuming, of course, the instructor actually knows how to teach.) Whether you're a beginner, an intermediate, or an advanced player, lessons will always be beneficial. A teacher could point out the flaws in your playing (be it in your technique, improvisational ability, or anything else) and could also give you pieces of advice or show you simpler ways to play pieces. Bottom lines is, whether you choose to hire me, your brother, your brother's band-mate, or just any other COMPETENT teacher, you'll be better off than trying to teach yourself. Of course there are exceptions where some players manage to teach themselves everything and still turn out being incredible guitarists, but that's just a handful of people and it would be better off for anyone who wants to see some great improvements in their playing to get a teacher, even if it's just for a short amount of time, just to clean up their playing.

A more specific question that you have asked was why pick me over your brother or your brother's band-mate. Honestly, I don't have an answer for that, it's totally up to you who you want to choose as a teacher. I don't know how well they play/teach and I don't know how much free time they have that they can spend teaching you, so I'm not really in a position to talk about other players/teachers, what I can do is talk about my own services rather the services of others. So, I'm free to work out a 'class timing' that would suit both your and my schedules, as opposed to your brother who may have other arrangements with his band (gigs, tours, rehearsals, etc.)

I hope I managed to clear some doubts you had, if you have anymore questions for me, please feel free to ask.
