    Which would be better?

Hello everyone. I'm in need of someone else's input on which processor I should upgrade to. I don't have many options because of my mobo, and don't have the cash at the moment to make a completely new build. I have tried overclocking my processor (Intel Pentium Dual Core E5200) with SetFSB which didn't work because every time I adjust the bar, and click set fsb is just set's it back to default and does nothing. So I'm investing in a new proccesor! Here's what I had in mind, I did some research and found some that is compatible with my mobo. Which would be best?
    Intel Pentium 4 651
    Intel Core 2 Duo E8600
What should I get? I don't have much cash/options. i actually wish I had a mobo that supports AMD, this wouldn't be so bad. Could you put an After Market mobo in a Dell? Not sure I can! Lemme know!

dont even bother upgrading if you're using socket 775.

save your money and get something worthwhile

    Hi Noodles :)

OP, you could spend $500 and get the best socket 775 processor on the market and it wouldn't even compare to a $100 modern processor. Your computer is literally a money hole. Save and get a new computer, even a $300 modern computer would be an upgrade. Basically the same thing Noodles said but a bit more of an explanation.

So putting a different motherboard in it isn't really an option?

    Yo Dank!

honestly, you'd be better off saving for a whole knew system, you can get one for like $600? that'd go better then your current machine. Like Dank said it's a money hole no matter what you upgrade, it's just a waste imo.

as Noodles said it is just a money hole. best just put a plug in it by buying a new system. dont gape it by buying those cpu's you listed.

It is an option, but you don't want to do that. It wouldn't be a financially wise decision.
