With account sales there is always a factor of risk of the original owner/previous owners recovering it back. I don't think it's ever possible that an account trade is 100% safe.

Playerauctions as a site is safe.
However, the person who first made the account can almost always recover if they choose to. This is regardless of whom or where you buy from.

If the original owner decides to recover it none of the information that you have on the account will matter unfortunately. All the account information will still be supplied to you if you were to purchase one.

Sythe is better than PA because you can see who you're buying from and select someone trustworthy. Although someone on PA looks trusted, you don't really know them to the extent you would on Sythe. 95% of accounts end up recovered. You're better paying over the odds and waiting months for someone very trusted to put one up on Sythe than get a "good deal" on PA.

Accounts can always be recovered by the creator. PA can only protect you for a limited amount of time, but in the end there is always a possibility of losing the account.

The original owner of an account can recover it even if you have the email registered, recovery questions set, and JAG enabled. I would never buy an account.

I'd suggest to buy from someone trusted instead. If you fear the original owner might try and recover it if you used PA.

There's no such thing as "security" if it comes to buying accounts
Buying gold is completely fine since even if gold seller wont deliver you GP you are eligible for refund.
