How does Western Union work?

I'm curious, I'll be selling some game accounts here and since I don't have a bank account yet or a paypal account, I was thinking about using Western Union.

Can anyone describe how it works on both sides, the giver and the receiver?

 

once you send money to someone you wont receive it ever again unless you pay with cc

no chargebacks if paid with cash money

 

As far as I know, it still can't be charged back even if they use a cc, because it acts like a cash advance with the cc.

And I don't get it, what's the procedure behind this? How will the giver send the money? How will the receiver receive the money?

 

Western Union is used by people who want to transfer money to other people who are far away. The person sending the money pays the company when the paperwork is filled, and the information is put into the company database. It has the money, and the fee charged ; the money is ready for pickup at the designated Western Union location within a short time after the transaction.

 

How will the company know that I'm the correct person? They will obviously ask for proofs, right? What will they ask for?

And how safe is this?

All you need to pick up the cash is:
1) The first and last name he used on the form as the sender's name.
2) The first and last name he used on the form as the receiver's name
3) The ten digit Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN#) found on the upper right of the paper form
4) The test question/answer

and Western Union is an unsafe and unsecure way to send money, because Western Union do not verify anything on the form the sender fills out, not the name, not the street address, not the country, not even the gender of the receiver, it all means absolutely nothing. the best way to work with it in my experience is

to make sure that you have been paid, you must PICK UP the cash from a Western Union counter (found in most Walmarts) BEFORE shipping the merchandise. Verifying that the MTCN# is valid on the website will NOT guarantee that the buyer has actually sent YOU your cash, it only verifies that some money was sent to someone. Until you have cash in hand, NEVER ship anything to anyone, EVER.

That's why you redeem the cash before you ship/deliver, they if you deliver/ship before picking up your cash, they can reclaim their money, or their friend can if they have the MTCN
