If you're in the USA it is also state based for example some states are higher then others also depends on the tax rates as well because it is all state based but i would say between 7.55-8.25 is minimum wage and working 40 hours a week at least.

Sorry, too specific. Can you try and be a bit more general?

I think you mean be more specific...

OT: You're speaking on the internet, there are people from all over the world, so you'll have to state what country you're talking about and what class you're talking about.

I don't think it's good practice to benchmark your wages. Otherwise you'll never be satisfied. As long as it's enough to cover outgoings and leave a bit extra, and you push yourself to be better - then you're making enough.

    This entirely.

Life is too short to only be focused on money.

I find those two comments above me to be stupid. Work hard and set a goal to make money and you will. That is how most of the richest people in the world have done it and they all seem to be living happily.

Hence "and push yourself to do better" - you can't do better than your best. Sure, work hard. But don't have the figure in mind when choosing a job.

Money doesn't always mean happiness. Insane amounts of money usually leads to wanting more and more, becoming obsessed and distancing yourself from a home life because your work life takes over.

Take it as you wish, but me personally I like enjoying the full 24 hours of my day. Why should I spend 8-12 hours of my day (or in my case 24 hours) doing something I hate simply for an extra couple bucks an hour?

Sure, you might get a few extra toys but there's way more to my life than money and I can guarantee that I wake up every morning looking forward to my next shift.
