Cold Shower 30 Day Challenge

warm showers but il give it a try

 

I've lived in houses without the benefit of warm showers. I'm kind of used to it. I heard of the benefits of alternating with cold and then warm water during showers but not just taking cold showers by themselves.

 

I will tomorrow. It won´t be difficult, here is really hot and It will feel so good

 

Definitely wanna try this! Athletes take baths in tubs full of ice water I'm sure this can't be too bad

 

So for the last ~5 days I've been showering in not exactly cold water, but it sure isn't warm at all either, and it's actually great. wakes you up so much better in the morning, and i take much quicker showers haha. im slowly turning the water slightly colder everyday too, feels good yo

 

But what if the cold shower gives you cold?
And by cold, how cold do you mean? Appx temperature?
What if it gives you hypothermia? That ain't good.

If I wanted to subject myself to needless pain and feelings of being uncomfortable, I'd talk to JohnG more, I won't be participating in this lol. Good luck to those that do.

 

I'll be doing this seeing as the temperature is too damn hot... I've been doing it before for a couple of days and it's extremely refreshing I wonder how cold you should put it, putting mine on the max cold is extremely cold.

really not a challenge, i prefer cold showers.

i mean what you going to do if your water heater goes out? need to make yo body stronger gents. might find yourself in icy waters one day, and years of cold showers may save your life.

 

Just saw this thread and have started doing this. I've always been a fan of hot showers, but at the same time I'm not afraid to take cold ones either. They feel great after work or on a hot day. I started at about 80%cold/20%hot this morning, and actually worked myself down to where it was only cold water by the end of the shower. Working towards conditioning my body to where I can just jump in with it being ice cold and still be in control.

 

what is the benefit? lol

 

The drastic temperature change in your body is supposed to have some kinda of a "shock" effect on your metabolism, and when your body "detects" that it's under it's normal temperature, I guess it burns calories by getting your temperature to it's normal degree.

Well, like 40 days ago I've decided to actually do this challenge. Successfully completed it on July the 15th and I haven't had a warm shower ever since.

Pros:
- extremely short shower times - I used to spend 15-30 minutes taking warm showers, now it's a matter of one song (about four minutes).
- my immunological system is probably better now?
- cold showers do give a slight confidence/energy boost (well, that is a minor factor to me since I'm really self-confident and energetic anyway).
- less money spent on water?

Cons:
- can't have a wank when in the shower
- shower's not a really good place to gather thoughts anymore

Will I continue to have cold showers? Probably, cause, well, they do consume WAY less time. I don't exactly feel like it is now easier for me to overcome obstacles but I did like the "one month challenge" idea. Think I'm gonna try not to eat fast food for a month now. Anyone got any other ideas? :embar:

 

I spend about 7-15 minutes in the shower in cold showers. I've been doing it for over 2-3 years now and it feels great.

 

Ill give it a go. I need to try my best to do anything that has the smallest possible chance to help me out in cross country.

I have to run at 6:30am til 9:00am and I don't think its worse than standing out in 60 degree weather for 2 hours.

 

Cold showers, tried it once, never trying it again.
