Minirank Racks

Make people earn "racks". As of now, you see 400-post newfags with like 6730234 miniranks and they certainly don't deserve to have so many. Therefore, my suggestion is to create a "Minirank Rack", a function that allows a progressively higher number of miniranks to be used at one time.

Say a user is a newfag with 5 ranks, but a rack of 3. He/she would only be able to use 3 at a time.

This way, it gives people who have somehow acquired a ridiculously large amount of miniranks something to works towards.


Fun fact, the idea conceived while I was shopping online for an airforce mini-ribbon rack. I'm up to 5 ribbons. Isn't that great?

 

Sounds good. What would it be based off though? Sounds like the people who acquire ridiculous amounts of miniranks will figure out how to acquire a ridiculous rack too.

 

In all honesty, I haven't figured that part out yet. add my MSN posted about how it would encourage spamming before he deleted his thread (hi, AMM), which is possible. I doubt it would be a huge problem though. People seriously overestimate sythe users' attention span... I think it'd eventually calm down to something you passively work towards, just like postcount itself.

But it could be based off many things. Sythe expressed interest in adding a statistic to user profiles concerning "time online" or some other function of time spent at sythe. Perhaps that?

In habbo we had badges and it didn't matter how many we had we were only allowed to show 4, I think it should work like this. Maybe make a donor perk for people who want to show more for example a 5 dollar donor can show 5 ranks and a 25 dollar donor and show 7 where as a 200 dollar donor can show unlimited. Mods and people who serve the site can show unlimited for the dedication kind of like a mod perk.

 

Nice idea, but do you really have to be condescending? These newfags will probably be running the forum 2, 3, 4, 5 years from now. This post could definitely have been phrased much better, and this is definitely not how I would expect a moderator to behave.

Even so, you haven't even provided the second (and the most complicated) half of the suggestion. The concept is good, but if it is to be implemented, someone will have to work out how the racks are awarded.

 

I'm fine with just imposing a simple limit but that'd take away the fun, the thing to work towards

No support. Will encourage spam, and will spoil the new upcoming minirank market. Time online statistics would be shit as someone could just have an auto clicker refresh homepage every minute..

 

I'd support this. If you tie it into the donation system it would definitely limit the amount of miniranks spam - that with join date perhaps? A system that honors both amount of time spent on Sythe as well as donations/support would work well.

 

No, i really don't see the point in making a limit. newcomers probably bought those miniranks. If you are jealous then go buy some yourself.
