    Autotyping legal now?

I've heard so many different things from so many sources about Jagex allowing autotypers in osrs. Can anyone elaborate and give me some information that I can actually believe?

It's always been against the rules, but something being against the rules and something you get an offence for are two different things. You won't get a mute for autotyping "Selling nature runes" in world 1 or anything of the sort.

It has always been against their rules, but the chance of you getting caught for it is really minimal to even nothing. If you're going to autotype in world 1 at full speed then you won't get caught. Just be careful if you spam at places that are quiet and it's obvious that you're autotyping.

    Exactly this^

You tend to find that in highly populated places it's not going to effect you whatsoever. When it comes to low population areas though and you spam at stupid speeds then I've known a few people get banned for it.

It's still against the rules, but it's hardly life-threatening, so use common sense and you'll be fine.

its against the rules, but it works like this... If your in a crowded area you will notice the chat message box goes up very very quick hence, if someone reports you for autotyping at max speed in world 1 when everyone else is when jagex looks at the report it will look like your typing at normal speed because of all the other messages, just dont autotype in low populated areas, because your looking at getting muted/ possibly banned.

You can use it but in pretty much all cases it is being used for spam which is against the rules.

I'm not sure this input is going to help per say, but at the lit altars in the EoC even when there's only two people spamming at full speed I've never heard of one of them getting banned, even in low populated places you have a very /slim/ chance of getting banned.

    Still against the rules, mate.

If you take a look at Mod Mat K's past streams on Twitch, during pretty much every one you can hear him naming specific people and asking them to turn off their auto typer as it's against the rules.

He doesn't punish them or mention them again, but who knows if he handed their name off to Mod Reach to take care of them ;)

You will not be banned or muted in populated areas unless spamming phishing links or any sort of link. You may be muted for auto typing in a non populated area by a try hard pmod. Use your judgement and set your auto typer to gain attention to yourself just not all the attention for example world 1 dueling arena doesn't need to be set at 2 speed with flashing colors. That may get you muted by a try hard pmod. Use your judgement you'll be fine.

it pretty much is legal now its like the trading over rsgp from 07 to eoc that helps rwt etc and i think due to the amount of people having to type things to buy stuff with no g/e they just thought they be ok with it

I haven't heard much about this subject but I don't see Jagex allowing any type of macro in the game. I'd be very surprised if they did.

For those of you claiming it's legal, could you please post a link to where Jagex has stated this?

    Autotyping legal now?

The clan I am in has several player moderators. About a year ago, there was a discussion about this topic when a member asked one of our P-mod members to come mute an auto-typer. At the time there was 3 P-mods in the chat who all stated that they are no longer supposed to mute auto-typers. The reason, was not that auto-typing had become legal, but that Jagex was claiming the game's anti-spam/advertising protection was sufficient to handle it. Player Mods really don't mute nowadays unless someone is severely problematic.

It's against the rules, but odds are you won't get a mute unless your spamming every second on an uncrowded world. If you do it w1, you'll basically be fine.

I thought that detection was only implanted in EoC. I remember watching the spammers get hit with that auto-detect when it was first released, but I'm for sure it doesn't exist in OSRS.
