it's all about updates, increased game content. the only way to make players stick is to make the game less of a nostalgia rush and more of an alternative game to runescape 3. of course jagex wouldn't like that happening. making a nostaliga server is one thing, actively splitting their users with competing games is quite another.

^Pretty telling to say the least. Honestly, there is no solution. The main game is losing popularity as well.

Jagex isn't actively advertising 07 scape, and I think the idea of gaining all your levels over again keeps people away.

To increase the player numbers you'd have to provide more access to more people by making it partially F2P.

I can't honestly see the population increasing otherwise. Sorry if this doesn't help (x

You don't have to spend $5 to play oldschool, it is included in normal membership.

In my honest personal opinion, drop the combat system they have in EoC and bring back old school fighting. The #1 reason I left EoC is because the new abilities ruined all forms of combat for me.

He's saying if free players try EoC and they don't like it, there's no possible way for them to say "Well maybe old school is fun! Let's spend money to try it!"

If OSRS had f2p world, it would just be used for goldfarming.. No one plays F2p period. It's only used as a staging point for botting.

This. Everyone is concentrated on how to fix 07 servers, I think the real solution is just to undo EOC on the live game. Then they can continue to update and add new content to the game and there will be no reason to complain about it ruining the feel of "oldschool."

Imo f2p is the only thing that will save the game in the long run.

Probably never going to happen though; Jagex want players playing the main game not 07.

I don't understand... Everyone requesting the updates for GWD and the G.E. and more, why not just play EoC? I love 07 because it doesn't have all that and it's nice to remember what it was like before, and I think that's why it's there. If you bring back all these updates it's defeating the entire purpose.

Nobody would play f2p? that's wrong lol.. so wrong.

I would, all my friends would and many others would join too if it only was F2P.

Really love all the feedback on the thread, there has been a large range of suggestions here, some of which i feel would work. Just thought I'd kind of broaden the original thread itself, Runescape in general is dying, why do you guys think that is?

No one actually plays F2P, even on eoc. F2P is only used so people can log on when their membership is expired, and so people can bot their accounts to a decent level before buying members.

Runescape is dying lol, no matter what those Eoc-kids say, on how "good" they think EOC is.

It doesn't matter if it's good or not, most worlds are dead lol, back in 2011 i saw people everywhere, 1, 2 and 3 were often full.
    Not anymore.

You all think it's dying because we had ~450k votes and only 20k were playing. But classic still lives too even though it wasn't even possible to join it for a long time. 20k players is a lot for an oldskool version of a game.
