    Thoughts?
It seems despite the declining player numbers, the micro-transactions have had a significant financial impact for Jagex. I do wonder where all the money goes, though. With all these server problems, botched updates, patches on top of patches, it seems like they're near to the grave.

"The continued health of RuneScape, which has been powered primarily through the release of significant new content updates as well as the introduction of additional, optional monetisation features, contributed towards a strong year."

“2013 is set to be an even bigger year for Jagex as we release the biggest update in RuneScape’s history, launch Transformers Universe and publish a number of new titles.”

They're moving on with new games, such as transformers and I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to make runescape playable on the iPad or such devices that would definitely increase the number of online players. However most of the profits stated in this article aren't directly from RS, Jagex has developed some games that are quite known around the scene.

Worse misinformation than the "Sum Ting Wong" report.

While I agree that Jagex is attempting to create more games, I disagree that they are 'moving on' from Runescape. They're diversifying and expanding, but Runescape remains their cash cow (microtransactions) and all of their previous attempts at creating games have flopped. Ace of Spades was released in Dec, 2012 and Transformers is still in beta so these are unlikely to have contributed to revenue (rather to expenses in terms of development costs).

They live in an alternate reality where every update is met with acclaim by the player base - or at least that's what they want the public to believe.

I'm positive they had record expenses... they have almost twice as many staff as they did back in 2007, and less than half of the active subscribers.

What jagex are going to do is they are going to make RS3 playable on the iPhone and iPad etc, purely so that the playerbase jumps up again, as it'll bring a lot more players to the game, as they can play it on the move etc.

They had record expenses in the last part of 2011 - and ended with a net ~6M pound loss for the year. This was due to leases on property in California as well as investments in new games (Ace of Spades, Transformers)

2012 didn't have as many expenses in regards to property or the development of new games.

    I don't believe 2012 had record expenses.
