ummm help with computer problem

ALL MY FUCKING NOTEPAD DOCUMENTS DISAPPEARED, I wasn';t really doing anything except browsing sythe....then when i minimized it all my notepads were gone....... including every piece of info for all my accounts.....

am i straight fucked now or is there a way to get my notepad shit back?

 

System restore to a previous date? Or maybe they are hidden files.

 

Do system restore as stated above. It's the only way to get your things back mate.

If you remember what words where in the documents, try doing this, they'll pop up if they're still in your computer.

 

tried that, it popped up.... clicked it.... this popped up

Can you move it / open it with another program?


Try clicking on it again and see if this comes up, if not I'm not sure sorry.

 

it let me move it to desktop, then said the same thing when i went to open it lol

 

Have you tried looking in your recycle bin to see if the original document is there? Either that or try downloading Notepad++

 

....yes i made sure nothing was in bin lol, tried ++ before to no avail

 

Notepad++ or the recycle bin has nothing to do there the original text file has been either removed or deleted what you're trying to open is a shortcut for that file, however the path is invalid so it cannot find anything.

Navigate to the directory where the files were. Right click, Previous versions.

 

If you rollback to a date where the files were saved they should be there. Are you sure they're not hidden files or safe files in a special folder that you have to do a key shortcut to access (like you can on a mac)

 

they were just on my desktop....and no notepad stuff pops up

 

Seems like your documents aren't gone, but the software itself to open the documents are gone. Just redownload a notepad like Chloe stated and click to open the documents with a different program and it should work. If it still doesn't work, just grab a USB stick, transfer everything in there, then go to a computer that doesn't have this issue.
