    Should I call the police?

This is weird, today I've read on facebook that gangs are stamping or placing stickers on fences with dogs in them to let other gang members to steal them later. I live in a good area, fence is 6 feet tall and just built we've a good alarm system set up inside but nothing outside. A little while ago I just went outside to get something from the car, on my way back I seen 3 stamps on my fence that were never there before, they're footprints and clearly visible but yet no bigger than a quarter size each.

My dog is always outside and isn't a guard dog by far she's a 3 year old English bull dog with a bad back and hates basically any activity and welcomes basically anyone who wants to pet her. Also weird while my mom and sisters and I were watching a movie a few nights ago a man knocked on the door and asked us to turn are garage lights off as they were keeping him awake at night and it was around 3 in the morning. (we're night owls) This man also had a dog and asked a few questions about my dog as he could see her through the window, he left shortly after.

This really scares me, I don't know if I should report this? And if I do, to who? Or am I just paranoid? My dog's my life and I'd be lost without her.

I would just call and file a police report to be honest let them no the situation and then if anything happens it will already be on file.

    Should I call the police?

I don't even feel safe in my home right now, I feel like a sitting duck waiting for him to come back here. What if they try to brake in? I'm the only manish thing in the home and I hate violence. I'd honestly burst into tears and curl into a ball if they came into my home and burglarized me.

I want to move, I do not want to stay here. My mom pays 2 grand a month to rent this place and its been nothing but trouble since we moved in. When we lived in the ghetto things like this never happened and I felt safer.

Maybe scratch off the marks? Or really just alert the police of it, tell them you have reasons to believe you could be burglarized or w/e. They probly won't be able to do anything on the spot but they might start patrolling a bit more often around there.

Call the police. Better be safe than sorry. Also, if possible, sleep with something under your bed. Preferably a gun, but a knife or something could work. I sleep with throwing knifes and a bebee gun because I feel more... protected.

May help comfort you, it does for me.

Also, consider getting a cheap monitoring camera? Put it in front of your door, can keep people away sometimes.

    Should I call the police?

I have major anxiety and usually my head gets to thinking about things and doesn't stop until I'm crazy like right now all I can think of is what if they're human traffickers and they placed 3 foot prints to let their gang know that 3 girls live here and they come and kidnap my mom and sisters.

My moms calling the police to make a report in the morning, I hope no one comes and tries anything tonight.

    Should I call the police?

Wow I never heard of this - that is weird. But anyways, always keep an eye out of whats going on outside your house. Since your protected inside you should be fine. Be sure to set the alarm before going to bed. I would suggest installing some spotlights that are motion activated so it can offer some protection and visibility of anyone.

These gang members are probably looking for fighting dogs like Pitbulls, Rotties, etc. - So maybe this could relieve you a bit. Also, these Paw symbols seem small, are they spray painted onto the wood? How did they tag these symbols on that top pillar of wood it seems you have in the picture.

I would definitely go around and let neighbors be aware of the situation, and see if they have been "tagged" as well. Best of luck and stay safe, will keep and eye on this thread.

Yes, "gangs" of dog fighters do mark fences for this reason, I'm 100% on that.

However, calling the police isn't going to have much effect considering they don't know who it was and would have to be there at the time to stop anything happening.

Get a burglar alarm fitted, or even just made visible, to deter anyone from trying to break in. Keep your dog inside unless you're able to supervise it. Most importantly, remove the markings from the fence. Chances are they'll either forget you were marked or realise that you're aware and ready and wont risk it. The reason they want dogs is for bait for fighting (at least here it is) so they'll be after lots of dogs - the less hassle the better for them.

My step sister's horses mane was marked by gypsies before, they platted it's mane underneath. She removed it and put extra locks on the gate to the field - they must've realised she regularly checked because they didn't come back after that.

Of course, it may just be kids or something :p

Too bad you're not a fighter...if something like this happened to me, I'd be exhausted from excitement....only so many people get to see the tip of my Mossberg 500.

Anyways, either buy a gun, put a sign that promotes violence (they won't bother coming if they fear a gun up their ass), etc. Cops won't do shit, TBH.

This is very interesting, I would say install anti-burglary systems around the house and try keep your dog inside as much as possible. Good luck man.

    Should I call the police?

I actually have to agree I would get a weapon of some sort. I am not saying hurt anyone or even attempt to but if there was a weapon in the house he may feel more comfortable being in his house. Also if they come with a weapon I would want to be able to defend myself. Honestly you don't know if they are just coming for a dog or not you don't know who they are nor are you inside of their heads.

    Should I call the police?

First off, cover up the marks they left, and keep your house well lit.

If you're going into the backyard I am not sure keeping the house lit would make a difference honestly. I think preparing for the worst is better then preparing for nothing. It may just be a fluke as well.

    Should I call the police?

My mother called the police, they did nothing but tell us to come in and write a suspicious person report or something of that nature and to install motion detector lights around the garage and backyard.

Also someone last night did something to the outside garage light, it no longer works.

Try not to worry pal, also install a cheap camera focused on the part where you suspect they will break in from and hopefully you will see them before they every try anything.

    Should I call the police?

You must watch to many scary movies. nothing to worry about. As long as you have a security system, quick reflexes, and have watched the Matrix. Keep the Dog inside. if he has to use the bathroom, put him on a leash, and walk him around! or just keep an eye on him. Also here is a good tip, go to your local store and buy a water squirt gun and some black spray paint (with gloss) go home and spray paint the gun black and let it dry. After dry pretend it is a real gun. I got this idea after watching one of those Home Alone Movies. LOL

    Should I call the police?

You realize, if someone wants his dog and he isn't a fighter, I assume he doesn't look like a fighter, they will take it off him whether hes walking it or its in his garden.

Also, promoting him to spray paint a water gun to look like a real gun could get him killed. Atleast if he had a real gun to try scare someone off and the worst happened and someone pulled a gun on him, he could shoot and save himself. He could end up dead with no way to protect himself.

Something similar is happening to my girlfriends brothers girlfriend. She has had her lights all around the outside of her house smashed numerous times over the past couple weeks.

All i'd suggest doing is keeping the dog inside, let her run out to go to the toilet but then bring her back inside. If the fence has not long been built, go paint it, you can cover up the markings that way rather than scratching them off and making it look silly. Get a new bulb for that light, and if you can, fit some more lights too. Also, as other have suggested, try to get a camera set up, it will deter people, and even if it doesn't you will get a look at who is doing this.
