Community Development Team - Rank?

If all of these stipulations, guarantees, and regulations would need to be implemented because of the rank.... then why even bother?

Telling you man, I've been there before on both the UE side and the OGV side, and it will ruin it. Its obvious that you have really good intentions for Sythe and the CDT in general. No one is doubting that by any means; you put alot of work into this and clearly are not trying to get more ranks or anything. But truly, giving a rank for this will as I said previously "become a breeding ground for staff hopefuls".

Voted yes so I can have a rank. However, wouldn't care either way. No one needs to identify me as a community development participant, because in no way will that help them do anything. We're supposed to plan events for the community and build it up and that does not require anyone knowing it.

 

Why do you say 'we'? When did u help, like, at all within cdt?

 

oh no! People will do a good job for the community in hope of becoming staff! We need to stop it!

 

If CDT manages to get the next few huge projects on the road again, which will increase forum activity in some less popular forums as well as making a mass-scam archive, then we deserve one, until then it's pretty questionable as people will try and join just to get a 'rank', which is worthless tbh.

 

We will always pick who enters as we always have. We need more members, we get them. Members are inactive, we kick them.

 

Some members have been really inactive in the current CDT team and haven't been kicked, pretty much 3 or 4 members in total have run SytheMonthly recently.

I'm pretty sure that staff get to vote on who joins CDT anyways, not the members itself?

We have discussed kicking them, I will bring this up to Roary's attention again once some new members join from the new application we've posted.

 

Who cares? As long as they're helping the site, even if it is only for their own benefits? The staff can obviously see through people like that, and they can just not promote them. The staff members aren't idiots.

Let them help the community if they want to.

 

If they simply want to help the community, then the current system in place is already perfect. It demonstrates who feasibly wants to help out around Sythe, without a rank as the primary motivation. They help because they want to.

If it is changed, then it will attract the staff hopeful/rank chaser types. Why fix it if its not broken?

 

We still have 2 more reasons as to why we need this rank. The third point is the biggest reason for this imo.

 

So you need a rank so that... people can know who you are and what you do....?

 

People can more easily see who we are to suggest stuff to us. Also, by having this rank, people will donate more to prize pools we have for tournaments. I'm not gonna bother replying anymore, vote no and go back to spam forum.

 

Nate, with your argument, might as well take away staff ranks too! All it does is show people what they do for the community, who needs em?

 

I was removed after the work with Funscape was pretty much done, aka, no one really did shit. Then I was added back, was gone for 2 months, and came back. Whether you feel I helped or not, doesn't change the fact that it's not necessary for people to know we're part of the CDT. Please give me a situation where it would be necessary.

The only reason we should have ranks is to be identified as the people behind building up the community, and that isn't really the case either. Please make a list of everything we accomplished, and I bet it will all be just threads: competitions, monthlys, etc.

It's different with staff because they actually have the power to help people.

 

Nate's trying to make the point that people should help the community without recognition. Although I think you have a valid argument that should be looked at, I'm only looking at Nate's right now because his reasoning for saying no is moronic.

 

That makes no sense man.... if someone has something to suggest, they will go to SUGGESTIONS. Not sure how you having a rank would illicit more donations. Meh. Difference of opinion I suppose, would love to hear more points of discussion from community involved people who dont have any direct interest in this.

If I need a thread closed, title changed, infraction reversed, scammer banned, warn of a phishing link, etc, then its imperative that I be able to do so, and quickly depending on the situation.

If I need to suggest something that involves the community, it is not time imperative. It is not critical that I know which members contribute to games or contests. I will simply proceed to the suggestions forum. Derp.

 

I'm sorry I thought we had a report function for all of that... I must be thinking of something else. There's no real reason to see who's a member of the staff team, and MANY sites actually don't show it. You're just used to them being showed so you want it kept that way.

If CDT was always shown too, I'm sure you'd have no problem with it staying that way.
