Tryin to learn Spanish - quick question

I've recently downloaded:: Pimsleur spanish...

started learning it but i've been told of a friend there is 2 type's of spanish the mexican/spanish and the normal spain country one...

i want to learn the spain country one not the mexican/spanish one, how can i tell the difference so i know im learning the right one and also what's the difference between 2.

and if anyone who speak's spanish want's to chat on skype to help me in general conversation feel free to add me

I think your friend may be wrong, never heard of 2 types of Spanish.

 

There's only one type of Spanish, but in Spain they have some different words, and the way they talk and pronounce some of the words is different.

 

There's indeed more than 2 types of spanish, from argentina,mexico,spain,venezuela,cuba,suriname alot of countries. The way to notice the difference is by the way they speak, the speed in talking and some slangs.

The main difference between "mexican spanish" and "spain spanish" is that in Spain, they use the Vosotros ("you all") form. In Mexico, they don't use that form, they just use Ustedes. Additionally, in Spain, they pronounce "b" as "v." There's also some slang relevant to mexico and spain, and there's other subtle differences just as there are between British and American English.

I wouldn't worry about learning one or the other specifically, it wouldn't make much difference. Good luck!

Just watch loads of spanish vids on youtube and find info on google to help you out.

 

My families background is from portugal/spain and i agree.

However, mexican/colombian spanish is considered like the best spanish because of the fact theres no accents.

Whenever i speak spanish people automatically ask if im from spain because of my accent. Its kinda annoying when your the only spaniard though.

 

No, European and South American Spanish are different dialects, very different actually.
