Selling Rare Runescape Names

Many names that have been sold recently have been deleted/wiped by Jagex. In addition, many names have been getting sniped. This happens because names are being sold publicly. This ends up being a huge loss for the buyer, which could have easily been avoided.

I suggest that any name considered "rare" should only be told to potential buyers via PM or skype.

Also, proof of ownership of any name should never be allowed to be posted on a thread. If jagex sees it, they're likely to delete the name.

 

Personally I don't think this would be a good idea. Bidding for names would get too complicated, as without a thread, the seller could just fabricate current bids. However, I still think making the name section only viewable to registered members would cut back on name sniping and names getting deleted by Jagex.

 

I suggested that a while ago, it got denied. But it would help out a lot if implemented.

Why did it get denied? I don't remember the exact reason.

FireZ didn't really have a reason to deny it, he just did.

 

It's something you could do, but I don't think they could/would enforce it.

 

It's necessary now, as Jagex is targeting name selling much more than it has in the past few months.

 

Then it would be in the sellers best interest to start it, but most people want to know what they can get, instead of having to add 30 peoples Skypes, or wait for people to PM back.

 

If someone can't wait a few hours (at the max) to know a rare name, then they are either

a) 12 years old
b) Looking to snipe names
c) Aren't actually interested in buying rare names

 

Or when right now they can see the name, add them/PM them with their interest and it goes by that much faster.

This isn't about speed, it's about avoiding the loss of names to snipers/jagex.

And the majority of buyers aren't going to want to ask every seller what they've got. Some will, they'll prefer it. Less risk, sure, but a lot won't find what they're looking for. So time does apply, cause eventually people will just get discouraged to looking for names. Don't say "That's only 12 year olds." cause it's really not.

 

You've never even posted in the name sales section, so you have no idea what you're talking about. Seems like you're just arguing with me to gain postcount.

 

Just put a sticky up warning about it, if people post their name simply don't buy it.

The whole point of this suggestion is to avoid that risk. Please just stop posting here, you're only making yourself look stupid.

 

Because restricting people from the market is a bad idea. We want to bring people to Sythe, not steer them away.

As for your original topic... No support from me. There would be too many scams if you didn't have to show proof of ownership and not showing names would get too many people trying to raise post count.
