    Stopping smoking weed.

    Right, let's start.

Ive been smoking weed for around 5 years now, In those 5 years I've probably only taken 2-3 months off at a time and Ive done that maybe 3 or 4 times in those years.. Every single day. I wouldn't say weed is addicting but psychological, yes definitely. I find its not that hard to go without I'm a bit grumpy for the first few days but it gets better as time goes on. The reason its quite hard for me is all my friends and closest friends smoke so I'm basically surrounded by it.

Basically what I'm asking is I need something to do that would keep my mind off it because Im not going to go out in the next couple of days.

Also a reason some of you might ask why i want to stop is, around 5 weeks ago i lost my job due to having an accident at work because of an assistant manager abusing his power(I'm a chef) so i need to get my act together stop smoking because when i do smoke i can never be bothered to look for a job haha.

    Mature replies only lol..

You could tell yourself to just smoke on days off, or on party's. Just tell urself you have better things to do when you're working(or looking for a job)

I don´t smoke, however, I have already smoked and if you can control yourself and don´t abuse and bother other people becouse of that, It is your own choice and I am not against

Personally when I started to stop smoking I would just tell myself "I'll have one in an hour" and then after an hour realise that it wasn't so bad and then say "I'll just have one before bed" and then lo and behold I was fine so put it off til morning.. but you really have to want to quit to do it that way.

Do chores, decorate/do some DIY you've been putting off, play a video game or something. Leaving the house helps, though, so don't make staying at home a habit or it'll be considerably tougher.

I've been trying so long to quit weed and in the end, I disliked smoking so much that I would've rather not smoked than actually smoked. It's all up to you man - it gets easier to quit as time goes on, exponentially.

The strongest and most effective method of quitting smoking that I've found to hold true is to fill your time with other activities. You like skateboarding? Go skate. If you're into sports then go find some people, walk up to them and get in a game. Go find new music, go to a public swimming pool, go ride a bike or read a book.

I also have found, just from personal experience, that it's often the exclusive smoking that makes you too lazy to quit smoking. If your mind isn't in other places then of course a level of dependability will be acquired. If you read, for example, smoke a joint and get into a book. Over time, you'll find that smoking is enjoyable, but it isn't something that is so psychologically addicting that you'd have to get on Sythe to ask others for ways out; not that it's a bad thing, and I don't want to come off as condescending towards you or the habit.

Just figure yourself out and the things you like to do. Also, eat healthy and exercise (just a little) so that you have the energy to do those things. If you follow the basic health principles that we as humans have had inherently within us for thousands of years, you'll notice the growth of your psyche and be happier, and less dependent on a chemical, because of it.

    ^.^

This won't really help the OP at all but it's still good advice for the topic at hand: To quit smoking, don't start in the first place. You'll get made fun of for being lame, but hell I'm getting a few trolls typing responses right now. Successful people didn't make it to where they got smoking pot, they just waited to do it until they hit big. But seriously, to the youngins of the world, don't hate people for doing it.. but don't feel obliged to do it too. It's not going to help, especially if you've got an addiction.

    Flame ^^ go for it
Congratz op for making the choice to quit. I'd follow Roary's advice and stop slowly. Update with progress!

Eh I personally have pretty much been forced to quit, got no money to buy weed lol. Try doing the same, organize your finances and see in what else can you spend your money or w/e. Even though there have been some days that i'm like, 'fuck my life', i've been able to manage without weed.

Do have to say, if you're really looking into quitting altogether, you will most likely have to cut some friendships down. I've personally been contacted by my dealer at least once a week giving me updates on prices and shit. I'm not looking into quitting (considering it now though since i've managed all this time without weed), but if I was really serious about it, having someone talk about weed all the time can't be any good.

It's better not to waste your money on buying weed, at the end of the day it's not a necessity.

Take into account what others are saying about the finances regarding weed and use that to help you quit.

If I had never smoked I'd have thousands upon thousands of more saved up and could be buying a new car :(

    Not worth it man.

When I stopped smoking it was pretty easy. The hardest part is if you start smoking again, you'll smoke once, then again, then before you know it you'll be smoking more than you did before you quit. Honestly I wouldn't even say quit unless you really want to, just limit yourself to once a month or once a week, and eventually you'll find yourself not even caring if you smoke anymore.

The hardest part is the beginning. Honestly, once you get over a week of not smoking each time you say "no" it becomes easier. It's just the beginning hump.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'm officially quiting weed tomorrow but ive also made the choice to stop smoking cigs too.. Ive cut down loads over the last few days went from 10+ joints a day to 1 a day also cigs have cut down too.. every day for 5 years Ive woken up and first thing i would do is roll a cig and smoke it but today i said no and had a piece of fruit instead and had my first fag 2 hours after that.. turned down a lot of joints offered by friends as well so i have high hopes of quitting!

Don't stop, it will damage your lungs if you do.

Your friends are all retards, go hang out with people that are productive, positive and don't do drugs. With all due respect you're wasting a shit tonne of money just to satisfy your in responsive mind. Being alive is a big prize, why do you need something to enhance it? Greatness is all around you admire it, surround your self with positive thinking people... preferably hard working.

If all of your buddies drank piss and claimed it made them feel 'totally rad', would you do it? I guess not.

always quit at the middle of the week, rather the start of the week, i tend to find out quitting anything is easier to quit on a wednesday than it is on a monday as mondays are the worst days of the week... your just destined to finish off back where u started, i smoked weed for 6 years without stopping, woke up one day and said ill quit and i stopped on a wednesday, try substitute it with something that isnt as harmful or addictive, this is the easiest way to stop, i personally used smoking normal cigarettes to stop, which was a bad idea, i have been a year clean of normal cigs now though too ~(i substituted them with fitness :p)
