Bitcoin Drug Trade

Something curious I stumbled upon the other day.

There are hugs underground marketplaces for drugs using bitcoin as a currency (hidden in the deep web, you're not going to find these on google). Obviously, this is quite interesting in itself, since the authorities are seemingly powerless against them, apart from a few isolated arrests here and there of idiots who posted their addresses publicly.

Anyway, I think these two links sum up the state of affairs at the moment:

In the second instance, a $200 prepaid mastercard is being sold for the equivalent of $284. That's incredible, and really shows to what lengths these traders are willing to go to clean their money, cutting about 30% out of their turnover.

Nor do I. Two things:

If you take the necessary steps, bitcoin transactions are anonymous, so you could not track them anyway.

Secondly, bitcoin is a currency. You could just spend the bitcoins on what you wanted to purchase with the MasterCard.

 

$100,- bills are probably fake.

Also did you know you can buy AK's, hand grenades, mortars and a shitload of drugs with BTC? Try installing TOR and lookup .onion websites

It's kind of absurd really though. I can completely understand the drugs/guns/etc, at least that's something that people would want ^^ (well, some people!)

I had a research. As far as I can tell, they don't exist in the US or the UK, but there are a bunch in China, etc. There are a few that are universally frowned on too, like books detailing how to drug deal, how to assassinate someone, etc.
