I'm thinking of getting a soft top convertible top and i live in a gated community and a pretty wealthy area but i'm wondering if anyone has had problems with convertibles? Has anyone ever knifed the top/theft or have you ever gotten into an accident where you rolled over?

Anything that has to do with convertible tops that would make me change my mind.

If you're worried about things getting stolen, don't leave anything valuable in your car.

I never leave anything valueble in the car, i'm just worried about the top getting ripped and having to dish out $1500

The most valuable thing i keep in my trunk is my $30 dollar enjoi skateboard.

If you say you live in a "wealthy neighbourhood" I doubt you will be robbed there, as when you go out I would not park on the street, if it's possible to find a place where they can look after your car, I would rather pay 15$ each time rather than ditching the 1500 you told you would have to ditch.

yea, but what about when going to the mall??

I'm currently working in a retail store and college so like i'm starting to think a convertible might not be a good everyday type vehicle....

i put thought into that post. honestly, you could google every fucking question you have instead of making a thread and you'd get the exact same answers. but here, ill give you a more detailed explanation of my original post

they suck. seriously. driving with the top up you look like a goof and it sucks to hold heat and gets hotter than normal cars when in the sun. you can only drive with the top down only when it's around 60-90 degrees, anything less is waay to chilly and anything hotter and you're better off with the a/c on full blast. not to mention with the top down it's a lot harder to talk to any passengers. there's a reason why like 3% of the population DD's a convertible and only have them for extremely nice sunny weekend days in july.

source: all of my dads cars except his trailblazer are convertibles.

Question, did your dad ever have any of his convertibles slashed? Like the roof by a punk or thief ???

Your seats are going to get ruined quick if they are leather, my friend had a hard top 335 and the seats were a mess because of all the heat in the summer here, I personally don't like soft tops or convertibles, you're better off having a sunroof. I also know someone with a z4 it's a soft top and his seats are worse because the cars can't keep heat out properly.

Also my friend had problems with his soft top where it wouldn't close properly but ithink it wasn't too much to fix. I doubt anyone will slash your roof most people go for the tires since it's more expensive to replace. Also your insurance will normally cover any major damage to the roof if you weren't in the car.

My sister had a convertible for a few years, we never had an issue with people slashing it open. Anyone who is willing to slash open your roof is just as likely to break your window, it doesn't make a difference security wise.

No body goes around and randomly slashes convertible tops dude. Unless you leave something super valuable inside they want at, they're not going to slash it open. u dont need a car cover, either, until you're parking it for the winter or something

you're more likely to get your tires slashed or your car keyed before the rag top cut by someone. and people only do that shit if you severely piss them off by parking like a complete douche or you cut them off in traffic

If you're a good driver, get an SL500 or SL550 or SL63....if not, don't embarrass yourself by getting one.
