How long until 07RS dies?

The game's still going strong because it's the #1 rated MMO who lost 2 million subs out of 10 million...

Runescape 2007 will not die anytime soon, there has been a recent reduced amount of players but that's mostly due to exams and other issues regarding education etc, give it a month and steadily players will start coming back. I'm not saying that the games not losing players, of course it is but I don't think it's going to die anytime soon.

 

I have not played regular RS for a year or 2 since the updates got pretty awful. I participated in the vote for 2007 Runescape though, but I didn't even know it was out until like yesterday :S ...

Anyways I loved Runescape back in those days like many of you, but this thread is sort of making me not want to invest time and money in a Character if the server might get shut down. So I'm wondering if it is worth it ?

I have no opinion if it will live or not, since I have not even been online. BUT I remember back in the old days when the trade limit, pking, staking, ETC was removed everyone, including myself, said it would die and a ton of people I know personally quit and it is still alive 5-6 years later.

 

it will not die out, its not 07 scape its oldschool rs.
Jagex will add new things going into the next few months or so.

 

I couldn't imagine anything that would make it die faster than Jagex putting in shitty updates.

I can see them in the next few months adding god wars.
Anything prior to EoC will always be better than EoC.

 

If they keep not doing major updates, then not much. Everyone is just on the stupid 07 hype and then they get bored after a week of playing. There's nothing to do on this game except PKing, and that gets really repetetive due to no variety. Pre-EOC was definitely better.

 

When jagex starts adding stupid updates then the number will decrease till eventually the server closes due to not enough people playing.

 

Honestly the question itself is dumb. None of us can predict when it will die. There is no accurate way to tell.

I assume it's going to be like RSC, it's still going to be there as long as Runescape is still there as a whole. Jagex wont shut it down if there are still people playing it.

 

Probably when Runescape 3 comes out and people try that.

 

Runescape 3 is just an increase in how far you can see and an interface update. It's not the big update everyone thinks. Those sorts of updates is why the people who play 07 quit the live game in the first place.

 

its already dead you just have not noticed it, bots are killing the economy [ check herbs for example all are down by 1-3k if not more] from just a couple weeks ago.

with so many worlds it makes the bots have an easier time crashing the market and gives pkers a harder time to figure out the main world to pk on as there are like 3-4 separate "pk worlds" people use yet there are only enough pkers to hold 1-2 worlds where pking will actually be decent.

there are tons of other things I could keep on ranting? I guess about on how\why 07 is dying\dead but this is already becoming a fairly long post.

 

i think it will slowly die down as people lose that nostalgia they came back to it for, then you will be left with a small community of people who are hardcore 2007 players and will never leave.

Not really many new players to runescape will probably join 07 considering they didnt play back then.

Yes, it will die because it's shit compared to modern games, people only play the game for nostalgia purposes... so when it begins to wear off they'll probably go outside and enjoy a better life, I've seen the light (literally). Now you guys go see some.

 

07 won't die. Runescape is nothing without spec weapons. 07 just need more spec weapons. That's the only problem atm.

To all those who are saying that it will die in few months are idiots really. Sorry but it's true. Bots will keep it alive for years so don't worry.

It'll go on for years. I love 07 and absolutely HATE eoc. I know a lot of others who feel the same way. Old school will go on.

Btw, the rate by which oldschool is losing players is decreasing. The people that were leaving are those who didn't play during those days or who just wanted to check it out. The decline of players is slowing down steadily. It will rise again.

 

I agree with you. I think more and more will resign on RS because of 07. Personally I know some friends who've started getting back on the Runescape track after 07 was brought in.

 

if runescape classic lasted till about 2011 after rs2 came out in 04, old school will never die
