Tips for losing a LOT of weight?

I'm sitting at 6'2", 350lbs. With my measurements, but bottom line number is 230-240 (I have an abnormally large physique, not unlike that of a linebacker lol). I've tried dieting, crash dieting, supplements, whey protein on said diets, extreme arm workouts, etc, and I'm getting minimal results. I've tried controlled substance stimulants, and they work great, but take a terrible toll on my body. What else can I do, quickly, to enhance my weight loss. It's important that I take that weight off atleast by the summer, as I'm facing knee surgery if I don't. Please help.

You must have a good diet while doing cardiovascular excercises to speed up your process to losing weight. Do understand this though, do not crash diet. If you starve yourself and then eat, you will quickly store what you ate as fat causing you to get fatter. Eat 5 small meals throughout the days so your metabolism runs at its peak and go a few hundred below your calorie maintenance. Diet is so important when trying to lose weight. Also, if you do strength training, you will only build muscle underneath your fat so you'll look chunkier. Lose the fat first by dieting and cardio. Do the strength training later. Again, I'll repeat this, your diet is the most important thing to losing weight. Keep it in check.

Run. Lots and lots of running. It sounds generic but there's a reason for that. Running will not grant immediate results but it will make your body tougher and more able to commit to physical exercise. I honestly can't offer anything in the area of diets other than don't starve yourself. Just stay away from sugary foods.

try doing a paleo diet...just eat protein and greens. and you should see result. Stay away from anything but water. Coffee is fine if you drink it.

You can mix in some workouts. If you can, do sprints if you do not like long distance running as i find long distance running pointless. Find a long hill and sprint up it. do it as many times as you can but don't sprint every day cause you may injure yourself by pulling your hamstring.

Sprinting isn't such a bad idea, but sprinting every day doesn't impact injury rate as much as stretching. That was awkwardly worded but i'm trying to say that if you stretch for about 10 mins before every session, you can sprint every day. However, I highly advise switching between days of long-distance and days of sprints. Long-distance running increases lung functionality, builds muscle, and conditions the body to work harder for longer periods of time.

Just stick to a diet. Don't cheat the diet... And do cardio. I'm assuming you can't walk or jog if you're having knee surgery? If you can though, at your weight, walking a few miles should be good enough. If you can jog do that though.

Tips for losing a LOT of weight?

The simple formula for losing weight is to lose more calories than you intake.

Get some easy cardio in and eat more nutrient rich foods. People always assume you have to starve yourself to lose weight, but that isn't the case. If you eat lean meat and vegetables, you can fill up easily.

If you go out to restaurants to eat, try cooking all of your own meals. This does two things. First, you know exactly what is in the food you are cooking. Second, you actually have to put in the effort to cook your meal, which means you won't be prone to snacking if you know it will take a long time to prepare the food.

It's not rocket science, if you don't want to do cardio, don't do cardio, it's not necessary.

Find your calorie maintenance, minus like 15%, then COUNT YOUR FUCKING CALORIES.

Tips for losing a LOT of weight?

Quite incorrect. Metabolism is not affected in such a way, that is fringe/bro science, INFACT, if he DID eat 5 small meals a day it would hinder exercising for additional fat loss. After you eat, insulin and fatty acids levels in the blood are raised. Your body is oxidizing glucose for energy. As time passes after the meal, nutrients are absorbed, insulin levels drop, and the body starts burning the fatty acids in the blood and stored body fat. This happens because when the body senses the insulin level drop, production of catecholamines is increased, which travel through the blood, binding to the receptors on fat cells. This activates hormone sensitive lipase (HSL), which allows the release of fat from cells into the blood stream to be burned as energy. Essentially after eating there is a period where you will burn carbs instead of fat. On the other hand, starving/fasting before exercising does not help moreso with fat loss, it hinders it as well. And again, on the other hand if he didn't exercise much he could stick to Intermittent Fasting to produce the best results for bat burning. As previously noted, metabolism will not be affected by the number of meals eaten per day, that is completely broscience.

Now regarding Strength training, it's ridiculous that you said that.. Cardiovascular training uses your muscles as energy store, resulting in muscle loss, while strength training/body building loses as many calories. sometimes more or less depending on the workout and will KEEP/improve your muscles.. Why would he strictly stick to cardio and lose muscle? That is foolish. You should implement cardio AND strength training. On another note, fasting & low intensity are in no way better than eating before-hand and doing high intensity training, there's a lot of broscience regarding bodybuilding/weight loss.

I would recommend reading bodybuilding.com forums stickies for more information with actual research provided.

What I can recommend, if you're unable to run/jog, then use an eliptical DAILY and every other day do weight lifting for certain areas. (arms, body, legs) Your diet and calorie intake is entirely up to you, you could go on a ketogenic diet or you could simply buy lean meats/veggies and count your calories.

HIIT > Skipping in terms of preserving your body (skipping can be harsh on the knees)

I do 5 x 200m sprints once a week, occasionally swim depending if I'm in the mood or not.

If you have bad knees , I'd reccomend learning how to swim (if you don't know how) and then just hitting the pool for an hour or so a day..

That and staying away from sweet / starchy food and watching what you eat, will help you lose alot of wieght.

Tips for losing a LOT of weight?

If you want to drop weight fast eat nothing but fruits and vegetables, with some nuts thrown in. No one has ever gotten fat off a diet like that and no one ever well. Go read up on the 80/10/10 diet. I tried following it for a month and I felt amazing, I had stupid amounts of energy that I didn't know what to do with and I dropped weight.
As for exercise... do anything that gets you moving! Something that you enjoy doing and will continue to do. I find cardio boring so I lift weights instead. You'll lose weight and gain some sexy muscle.
Keep things simple and stick to it. There are no shortcuts my friend, only life style changes.

Tips for losing a LOT of weight?

You'll be losing weight quickly if you work at it since you have a lot to burn. I think the best way for you to shed pounds would be to drastically change your diet, and possibly take in less calories than you burn a day. Walking (running, if you feel that you can do it) everyday, and eating better and less will help you achieve this. This might sound horrible but try to eat less than 400 calories a day, cut all sugars, drink a lot of water, and walk as much as you can. (I'm 5"11 and I went from 160 to 130 pounds in a short amount of time by doing this. I went from about 20% body fat to about 13%. Since you have much more fat to burn than I did, I would imagine it would be a faster process for you to shed the same amount of weight)
