New scam method or?

so yesterday i got someone to try to buy gold, he said pm to confirm he gave me "his sythe profile" but when it clicked it made me log in... so i found it weird and closed it and saw the link said ********** ... basically a phisher site.... idk if its new or not but i almost fell for it (good thing i double checked)

 

It's a good thing you checked! Link altering has been around for a long time. Not too sure how frequent it happens on Sythe tho

 

I know its been around Runescape phishers... paypal phishers.. but never seen a sythe one till now lol

yeah but when u click on the link he gives it takes u to his fake profile that makes u log in before u can 'send' a message

 

Phishing is one of the oldest tricks in the book. Sythe doesn't have any timeout features that auto log you out. They could probably get your IP address from this if their domain is set up properly which means you should just avoid them.

 

What could they do with my ip adress? Nothing ,especially if its not static public.

 

People overestimate the value of IP addresses. Anyway, every single website you visit probably already has every IP address you've ever had.

 

i mean its pretty stupid because sythe requires email to change pass

This method was going round in pms a few month back, i remember getting a random pm saying something like 'nice try on the scam, reported you' and a fake sythe link which directed me to log in

The guy was banned by the time i read it anyway

I doubt if anyone will fall for this trick since, as told, Sythe doesn't have any timeout time and most members log automatically.
