Smite - Third-Person Moba

I recently found out about Smite, a MOBA still in the beta stages. The meta-gameplay is very similar to League and Dota, but it's third-person. Instead of being RTS-style overhead and click-based, you control your God with WASD and cast spells similar to an MMO like World of Warcraft.

One really good thing is that because it's so new, the low-level games aren't full of smurfs who destroy newbies like me.

Note: I'm not trying to pimp anything out. I'm just providing information.

 

I prefer League over that, I played smite on it's first days, idk how it is now but I have it installed.

 

It's just a different flavor from League. Probably because it's summer, the League community is absolutely awful right now. It's basically every game now that you get a really toxic flamer. Not to mention the fact that there are so many smurfs taking advantage of the newbie summer players, so every game is so lopsided nowadays. There's always a lane that gets massively fed. Either my team ends up winning by a landslide, or the other team wins by a landslide.

 

It is a bit different I downloaded it the day it became available and I prefer lol but I bet it gets tons better in the future.

 

New players play vs bots, just like everyone else did when they first started.

 

No, maybe "new" as in their first week, but League has a learning curve of several months. When I say "new" I mean people who end up feeding just because their opponent can capitalize on their inexperience.

 

and how will Smite be any different? It happens on every game, for example, in the wildy in rs. a pro pker will take advantage of a helpness noob...

 

It's just that there are three-year veterans on League (and a lot of them), whereas on smite there are "veterans" who have played a few months. The experience gap is much, much smaller, and I haven't seen nearly as many one-sided games that are the result of one bad player throwing it for the whole team. Besides, a lot of League people have been playing so long on their mains that they get bored and make smurfs to try and get plat/diamond twice... That, again, hasn't been able to happen on Smite.

Anyway, you all are being basically just as toxic as the general League community. I'm trying to spread the word, not argue with a bunch of people who insist on being right instead open-minded.

Watching the tutorial, looks very interesting.

I have heard of this game before, however never bothered trying it until now.

 

Let us know how you like it, Jeff. I'm currently a big fan. It has a learning curve if you're like me and haven't played many WASD MMO games before, but after a week I feel I'm pretty fluent with the controls.

 

Yep. When I started playing lol it was mid season one, the experience gap at the time wasn't nearly as big now and it didn't take me long at all to catch up to the skill level of the average smerf. I just got my friend to start playing around end of season two and it took him much longer than me to catch up to the smerfs skill level and he's generally better at video games than me.

 

In my opinion, this game seems like it was made for 12-13 year olds. It's super cheesy and the narration through it is dull.

 

Smite is pretty old... I suggest you stay away from it. Its a good idea on paper but poorly executed in reality.

 

how is it old when its still in beta lol?


its a fairly fun game, its like a moba with a mmo playstyle feel. i've already done some comps for it on the semi-pro level but mobas arn't my style so i burned myself out on it.
