Arguement with parents...

Yeah so there's this class party. Not allowed to go since they were *about* to invite me to a vacation with just family. My friends invited me to the class party first though...

I'm not allowed to go since:

- the place where the class is staying at is rural
- the transportation there is by traditional boat. *dangerous* as they say

My dad is pretty sick atm so I'm not even sure if we should be going anywhere outside the house.

This is stupid lol. I gave them the silent treatment but they got angry. Atm im in "the world of music".

What should I do XD

I understand your position here as well as your parents. They really just want to spend time with you as before you know it you'll be off to college and possibly not seeing them much anymore, if at all. I'm sorry to hear your dad is sick and hope it is not serious, but just know that they just want to spend time with you. They probably figure you won't be wanting to do a whole lot of things with them over the summer and this family trip will ensure at least one time they can spend time with you. You could maybe convince them to go, but just know this: Class friends come and go, your parents are forever going to be your parents.

Don't be too hard on yourself buddy, I can see your position as well, trust me! But speaking from experience, all they really want to do is spend some time with you, while you're still a kid. Enjoy it man. But that doesn't mean they shouldn't be able to compromise with you on things, that would be unfair to you. Does the family trip at least sound like something you'd enjoy doing?

 

Trust me, one class party isn't the end of the world. Even if their reasons aren't any good, don't ruin their vacation if you are in a bad mood. I'm sure there are plenty of times they had to put off their plans for you.

Listen to your parents. Especially since you are still young there will always be more parties.

 

It might feel like a let down and you're probably really gutted, but at the end of the day they're protective because they care and mean no harm There'll be plenty more parties and you'll be a responsible adult soon! Besides, if your dad is sick perhaps you should try and hang out with him and brighten his day up instead

This made me laugh.

And we resolved this issue. We agreed that we're postponing the trip with my parents, as my dad had work in that date anyways. They let me go to the "end of the year" class party with my mates; we found a trip which includes a place that isn't rural and we're gonna ride a speedboat there.
