    Supplements.

So originally I started at 360 pounds, when I got down to 280 I got a weight bench and started lifting, now I'm down to 258 as of today. At about 240 I'm going into the Army and after basic I should be easily 220-225. Now, to get to 240, I am thinking of using a weight loss supplement. Currently I'm using a weightlifting buddy's Meltdown capsules. In 4 days I lost 5 pounds using it. I just ordered SuperHD. Has anyone used that before and know if it's any good? I'm excited to try it.
I also ordered a 5 pound jug of Syntha 6 powder for lifting. I used to use EliteMass but that's a meal replacement.

If anyone knows anything about syntha 6 or SuperHD let me know what you guys think of them.

Also I might order a pre-workout, never used them before. But on the website I use, there's an offer on buy 1 get 1 free for a pre-workout called "Cardio Igniter". I would also like feedback on that if anyone has used it. Thanks. --- Nevermind, ordered Jack3d =]

First of all, congrats on the huge weight loss so far. Takes a ton of dedication and willpower to achieve those kind of results.

If you want my honest opinion, "fat burning" supplements are a load of shit. The main ingredients in many of these is caffeine, which essentially increases your heart rate and blood pressure, which increases your core temperature. This will increase your metabolism slightly for a time, but it is a negligible effect at best for the amount of money you are probably shelling out for these pills.

The most effective thing you can do to increase your metabolism and fat burning potential is to induce the EPOC (Excess post exercise oxygen consumption) effect. This will increase your resting metabolism for up to 72 hours after exercising. The best way to induce this effect is with short-term high intensity exercise (weight training). EPOC is greater after short-term high intensity exercise due to elevated body temp, increased gluconeogenesis due to higher blood concentrations of lactic acid, and higher levels of epinephrine and norepinephrine.

I would avoid pre-workouts as well, as well as any intraworkout drinks or supplements. Taking in calories during short to moderate duration exercise is an awful idea. When you take in calories during exercise, your body must divert blood from your muscles to help digest these calories, which leads to a decrease in performance. If you must take a preworkout, try and find one that is calorie free if such a thing exists. The best way to get higher energy levels? Get plenty of carbohydrates in your diet, as well as drinking plenty of water. This will replenish the glycogen stores in your muscles, which is one of the main sources of energy during your workouts.

Hope this helped you, if you have any more questions feel free to ask

Thanks for the reply. As for the fat burning supplements, they assist me because my metabolism is shit =p. I've gotten this far without them, but the less weight I get to, the harder it's becoming to lose weight. And it was only 38 bucks for a month supply so not too bad. When I use protein I only use it after my workout, and usually only half a shake, depending on what body parts I use each day. However, for carb energy, I try to have a low carb diet, because it's easier to lose weight with less carbs. I do however, drink a lot of water. I'm still debating whether or not to get the pre-workout =p.

Hey if you feel like it's worth it for you then more power to ya. That's all that matters in the long run I suppose.

Taking in protein is a great idea to take advantage of your increased rate of protein synthesis after exercise. I'm not sure why you are only taking half a shake, or what different body parts have to do with anything. Certain body parts have no different effects on protein synthesis than any other. All that matters is that you are getting a sufficient amount of protein in your diet.

Totally false. There is a difference between fat loss and weight loss. When your body takes in carbs, water mixes with the carbs to form glycogen. This increased amount of water in your muscle cells is what some might call "bloating". True, depriving yourself of carbs will make you lose more "weight", but it will all be water. And you will gain that weight back immediately as soon as you replenish your glycogen stores. Keep in mind that many things have an effect on your daily weight such as the amount of glycogen in your muscles, sodium levels, even the amount of stress you are under. Try not to go so much by the scale but by what you see in the mirror and feel in your clothes.

Yeah I know most of all that =p. And the reason for only a half of a shake on some days is because I only have a weight bench with a curling bar and dumbbells and a preacher pad at the moment. I get 6 exercises done for back and bis, so i take a full shake, then on chest/tri day, i take half a shake because I only do about 3 exercises for that day, and on shoulder/trap/leg day I do 3 or 4 exercises so I only take a half of a shake. I wish I could do more, but I can't really. I can't even do skullcrushers or military press because my room is so small and not enough room. Once I'm in the Army and on base, I can do much more workouts.

I've already got motivation, but I can't join a gym because I have no car at the moment. I've dedicated all my time and money towards getting in the Army =p. Once I'm in, I can lift at the local gyms on whatever base I'm at.

    And thanks =p

Just ordered Jack3d instead of Cardio Igniter, heard many good things about Jack3d so I'm excited to try it out, hopefully it will give me a boost in my situps and jogging as well so I can get better at cardio workouts.

I just re-read that and should reply to that particular part. Most pre-workouts don't have any calories. And when you take a pre-workout, you don't take it right when you're about to lift, you take it 30-45 minutes beforehand.

Supplements are actually not very healthier for you. You should try and eat more proteins, try using the Medi-Terranian diet program. It concentrates on remaining slim, but muscle and you generally get to eat whatever you want.

If you're trying to get cut up, don't use any sort of protein. Protein, although good for building muscle, is often times high in carbs/fat. Syntha-6 is a decent one, but at that weight protein will hurt more than it will help. Until you meet your weight goal, try to get your protein from natural sources (Meats, almonds, etc).

Also, for a good thermogenic, try animal cuts. Loved them, went from being a little pudgy to having some nice veins in my forearms and dropped a couple pounds of waterweight within a month.

For pre's, I liked 1mr but I got used to it after a while. I've recently started taking Muscletech's gakic hardcore as a pre, it doesn't give you that jittery feeling but combats muscle soreness while working out. It's done wonders for me.

First of all, I would like to congratulate you on this huge success! I know how hard this could be!
And well, "Fat Burners". I used a fat burner once called Red Zone, and I'm not sure if they actually burn fat or not but the main thing about fat burners are, you need to work out a lot for them to work. Using them and not working out means 0 result. And also, to lose weight while using fat burners, I suggest you to do cardio. A lot of it. Run.
