What to do if your Skype account has been hacked!

1, Make sure you put in your signature in big red letters the following.

2, Message a member of staff via PM to inform them.


3, Remove all Skype usernames from your threads to avoid anyone getting scammed.

4, Go to here, https://skype.ehosts.net/netagent/c...4&portid=1BAB99A1-86F2-43E5-A9E6-D275A9C0E7CF and explain to Skype your account has been hacked and you need to recover it.

5, They will ask you the following questions.

They may ask you a few more and not always the same ones but they are the general questions. Try explain just revert the account back to your original email.

6, If you manage to get your account back, go on it and just delete all your contacts and then go back on to the chat and tell them to permanently freeze and delete your account because chances are someone can hack it back again

7, Once you get a email confirming it's been deleted and frozen you can then inform the moderators on Sythe everything is handled and you can either make a new Skype or just trade over PM's.

You shouldn't get hacked in the first place if questions like

are asked.

Unless you're keylogged or something, it's common sense to put your contacts and email address on "private"

Lol, you don't know anything. Skype get social engineered all the time to give over accounts. All my details were private, no viruses or anything and mine got hacked.

 

Pretty sure we had this debate before The questions vary depending on which agent you speak to.. which is why it's Skype's problem and not the users being hacked.

It's not hard to dox most of this information from Sythe, for example, I look on someone's gold selling thread, see who's vouched for them, check up their Skype and at a guess, try it.

Yea, most of the answers are findable on Sythe. People look for when you made your Sythe account and give that as when you made the account. Look at vouches and threads to find 5 buddies and you can bluff the rest. Skypes security is bad, my friend got hacked non related to Sythe and she had her CC linked to it and the hacker didn't know it and still managed to gain access.

i will defo use this information whenever i will be the target, hopefully not ofcourse. i hope skype will fix the recovery, i think it's to easy to cover someone's skype when you have the info.

not use a public email for your skype, and when kids add you asking were you live etc don't tell them personal info then yo skype will be unhackable...

Like what many others have said before, all they need to do is to reverse social-engineer your Skype info which can be easily gathered from Sythe. There's is no way you can protect your skype 100% until they fixed this security flaw.

 

No one knew mine, and it got hacked. I even tested this out with a friend and he tested it out on mine [Personal Skype]. All I knew was 5 contacts on their list and that's all he knew. We managed to recover it via the live chat with just 5 contacts and the country the Skype was made in. Obviously it was a test between me and my friend but still. Anyone can recover a Skype if they can sweet talk them enough.

 

The only way to keep your sythe safe as it seems is to not have any contacts added for a long time. If the skype is a business account, have the contacts on your list checked everytime. Remove those that you do not have any active transaction with as those info can be easily reversed engineered by the hacker.


Keep renewing and checking your contacts and of course, make your e-mail unknown to everyone.
