You won't really get stronger with bodyweight. If you don't want to join a gym or get a barbell/squat rack/weights for home then get some dumbbells you can do.

    I would do:

    2 x 30 Normal Pushups
    2 x 30 Wide Pushups
    2 x 30 Close Pushups

    3 x 20 pull ups
    4 x 2 minutes planks

but you won't real gain a lot of muscle with just that.

Vouch, if you can't do this you're lower than the lowest, L.

OT, there's no set number, you should try and find how much you can do than increase that number slowly.

You really should go to a gym and lift weights if you want to get stronger.

If you're set on only doing body weight exercises, look up convict conditioning.

The best thing to do in my opinion is to do as many rep's as possible per set ( TILL FAILURE)

Doing this, WILL BRING STRENGTH over time of course.
These will not only allow you to get cut, but also increasing your core and stabilizer muscles if performed properly.
-Yes, gyms have heavy weights which allows you to gain mass.
    - I would suggest buying a 22lb weight vest from Dicks or Ringside and use those to bring more resistance.
    - Weights in my opinion are over-rated..

No weight exercises are nice if you're looking to get tone lean muscle. But if you want bulk better hit up a gym. Start with a low number and increase it until it becomes difficult to complete the full reps. Just continue increasing and changing up the exercises slightly.

How old are you OP? You won't really make any noticeable progress. Shame, but that's the truth. Go to the gym.

Do as many as you can, burn out on them every day.
Don't listen to these fools, you will get stronger, but will you see a noticeable difference of muscle size? Not likely.

If you want strength, then instead of going for a high number of reps, fill a backpack with heavy books (or whatever heavy object you choose) until you can only do 5-12 pullups/pushups with the given weight.

Gradually build up the weight as you get stronger.

If you insist on using your body weight, then try doing handstand push ups against a wall or one arm pullups (great for bicep definition as well).

By going until failure you're predominantly building your endurance, not strength.

BTW the plank is relatively useless if you maintain proper form while doing pushups.
