I have a question about cpu usage when loading maps maybe some of you guys can answer from experience. When loading a map on like call of duty mw2, or basically any cod game in multiplayer I will hit 100% cpu usage and sometimes the game will stop responding for a few seconds.

Is this a normal thing to happen when loading maps? I usually average at like 15% to 20% cpu usage when actually playing the game, It only jumps to 100% when loading the map or sometimes in the main menu when changing settings.

    I have a i7 3770k by the way.

Its normal dude. It does it with my PC and on every other game where loading a map or level is involved. It just goes to 100% to load the map as quickly as possible.

If I would have to take a guess, it may be that your CPU needs to decompress the maps to load them into RAM. Even just loading the maps into RAM would take up a lot of CPU resources and like others have said, it maxes out to allow it to finish quicker.
