I'm having some problems with cutting this image:

    http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/7416/weihrauchhw97ktblacklin.jpg

I've tried using the magic wand but couldnt find the right tolerance since the weapon's white barrel becomes a part of the selection. Next up i've used the magnetic lasso but whenever I made a wrong click it screwed up the selection ofc (and I dont know a way to revert a just-made click, if there even is)

So any tips? Also tried leaving the white background for what it is and use 'darken' as layeroption but that takes part of the weapon with it too :(

Ill be happy if someone posts a nice clean transparent cut of the weapon but even more i'd like to know the way to do it :)

Used magic eraser tool for everything except for the trigger.

Zoomed in on the trigger and erased the excess white with soft and hard eraser tool.

Trigger still looks a little iffy, just take some time going over the white with soft and hard 1px eraser tools if you don't like using lasso.

hmm thx for that, i managed to get this far myself so it seems i have to continue on smoothing the edges with brushes or some dodges

perhaps i could just put an inner shadow, cus it seems the whole image has like an inner glow. I could try to cover that up?

    ill post the result

Shadowing will help with the outer white parts, try adding some inner shadow as well as a little bit of drop shadow keep it small with 1-2px spread.

Didnt end up that bad :) the trigger is a real b*tch to get right, might even be a solution to just pen-tool that one, but i think the above is sufficient

EDIT: hmm thats odd imageshack fked up the image i guess, let me fix some bit-settings

Looks pretty good as of now, depending on what you're doing with it adding gradient maps, curves, effects will get rid of what little is left of the white :)

I recommend maybe trying a black and white gradient map set to soft light/overlay at around 30% opacity.

And make a small s with the curve similar to this one with 75 output and 90-95 input http://gyazo.com/3b3fc7ff18d1928ef80f87aa10d87dbd

    Hope I helped :)

yea you're right i might as well leave it the way it is, the effects will hide the things anyway. I've added the curve and it made the black stand out a bit more but ofc also made the white rims more visible

EDIT: hmm ive put it on a red background and it looks really smooth, but when i change colours it fcks up the smoothness

that last one looks good. but for future try using the pen tool if you got some time on your hands. it will be perfect.
