Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.

If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.

Becomes a Federal matter now.

Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all
In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the state.

We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks.
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.

We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.
It's "inappropriate" to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such "judgments" do not belong

We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.

It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a mess.

Personally, I think it should be in our schools, because if you guys really don't care like you stated above - then whats the big problem? I know thats a low level argument, but I'm just making use of the context.

 

I don't care if it's in our schools. To each their own. I'm fine with that. I just have a problem if it's like forced.

Nobody has ever tried to force anything as far as I know, however if they have - they were in the wrong.

 

This is coming from an Atheist. I am actually going to take 2 theology classes in college. Why, well it never hurt knowing. And what better way to totally disprove religion than by knowing every little fact about it. Those of you who "think" you are Atheist and quiver at the word god or prayer well your inept hypocritical ignorant dumb asses. I became an atheist after attending church for 9 years, why because I felt like I knew that it all was a lie (to put it simply). I now know the truth, but those of you who know nothing are just Ignorant Atheists who deny something that you know nothing about. You know that saying &#8220;try it before you buy it&#8221;. Well I tied it, and I didn&#8217;t buy it. No entity made the universe we are the product of billions of years of accidents, and that sounds more poetic than some freak making us.

Religion has just as much right to be in schools as theory of evolution. Althogh religious debate would get into it, etc. I'd just like to keep things the way they are. It's not that big of a deal anyway, as long as you don't try to force it on people.

 

i dont see a problem with it, they dont force there beliefes on us but leave us to make our own educated opinions and choose our own following. i dont see a problem we agreed to go to that certain school so they have to right to teach that.

How does this relate to the topic at hand?

 

Religion shouldn't be in schools, on the simple concept that church and state are supposed to be separate. Public schools are government funded, and therefore should not be affiliated with any form of religion.

Private schools aren't funded by the government, and should be able to do whatever they want religiously, providing that it doesn't break the law.

It isn't a matter of opinion, its a matter of law, so it doesnt really matter if people think that it's right.
