Will RS 07 Die?

07 scape will last as long as runescape does, it won't die out because people are getting what they want and actively voting for updates.

 

The thing for most of us former members to remember is we're only playing because that's what we learned on. Anybody who starts playing EoC / RS3 is never going to want to go back to RS07, and likely a lot will think it's pointless.

 

Seems like eoc is the one dying with all the bots and not enough players to buy gold whats left of the economy is crashing.

 

Why would you charge more for a dying game?.. For the monaayyy.

Jagex never wanted 07scape to succeed in the first place. They want their users to play EoC.

 

^ I agree with that completly. Jagex wants their players to focus on EoC because EoC is much more profitable for the company. It has more buyable features, similar to a facebook game, which keeps their wallets full. The only way to compensate the loss is by charging extra for 07rs.
No doubt Jagex will ruin the return of 07 with some sort of scheme to gain more $$$ ...

 

The only reasons that would expedite the death of 07 would be if Jagex added an extra fee, or if they ended up adding updates that actually took away from what players originally wanted (see the controversy with the rares atm). Other than that it will have a much larger/consister base than rs classic imo considering once rs2 came out classic plummeted hard, while the number of people playing osrs even while being called declining is enormous in comparison. Regardless a bit of nostalgia is always great and eoc is just jagex's attempt at a WoW style game and it's just shit. If you're going to pay to play that, you may as well dish out a little more and play a game like wow that is much better in terms of what you're getting out of it. It used to be when people compared the two I would dismiss it because when I payed for runescape, I didn't want a WoW experience, I wanted a runescape one which was essentially open source. Now it's just like wow but shittiter, and you may as well just pay for the real thing if you don't like osrs.

 

OSRS has been out for 3~ months or so, and Jagex has done a great job listening to the community for new updates. God Wars won't be happening anytime soon .... that much I can guarantee. The OSRS community is adamant about change.

I'm sure OSRS will last to September, the evaluation month, giving f2p the opportunity to play. While obviously EoC is their main project, OSRS has generated income of its own ... While, eventually, people may lose interest, it's going strong as of now.

 

I don't see how it will die. O7scape is like no other game on the market, thats why everyone played it back in the day. EOC is becoming more and more like WoW and all the other shit, and for that reason, I think EOC will die before 07scape.

 

Currently the number of active players on servers runs like this
EoC > OSRS > Classic

In the next few months I can see it going
OSRS > EoC > Classic

However, the release of RS3 will make numbers on EoC plummet, and could take away OSRS players for a short time, so after RS3 release for a few weeks it'll be
RS3 > OSRS > EoC > Classic

Which will eventually settle back down to
OSRS > RS3 > EoC > Classic


That's the way I can see it going, and that's why OSRS won't die anytime soon. PKers are getting made to max now, and that's when PK clans get popular and thrive.

The people thinking that it will take a lot of years to die, or flat out won't die and are comparing it to the main game need to remember one thing:

OSRS has no F2P. The large majority of people that will play OSRS have already started. People aren't going to pay for P2P and get immersed when they've never played it before.

 

EoC will die quicker than 07 I think.

 

They were originally going to re-evaluate the price in sept, but a month or two ago they announced they would not need to reevaluate pricing for the forseeable future

 

They said they wont add the extra fee for another year or so.

 

Well, it's really hard to tell right now, so many people are playing it right now. BUT ALSO, New people that join Runescape, most likely will not be a member right away, so they will adapt to EOCscape. But remember, RSC wasn't getting hardly any updates at all, that is why it got old so fast. RSO is getting lots of updates, and even the players get to decide, but if JAGEX decides to put in the 5$ fee for RSO, It is going to die, I'm sorry, but it is. Not many people will want to play a browser-based game for an extra 5$ a month. I think that JAGEX are waiting to put on the 5$ extra (IF THEY DO) for RSO for about 6 months, is because they want to get people to pay the extra fee, because some people are putting ALOT of time into RSO, and JAGEX is not thinking about the players. So if RSO keeps at the rate it is going at, and mabey even make a free week trial on it, Then it could keep on going and stay strong forever. BUT will JAGEX even be kind enough to even suggest the things that would get them ALOT more players, and a little less money? I don't think so. So, will RSO actually be forgotten/die? It's really hard to tell, but it is JAGEX's choice to keep it alive or not.

Those New Fags who came after Paul and Andrew only cared about profit. It's Sad but they pushed everyone away. i miss 5 bucks membership... as a kid it was fun gettin money

 

Also I still play Classic Cuz it's the last untouched by the new fags. I wish they would have some respect and keep it untouched but open to all paying memberz.... If jagex took the time to focus on Classic, OldSchool and keeping them that way and us happy they would become a hit! But there not they dont care and Down they go. Cuz all they want is Money.

 

The nightmare zone update looks like it will be a poorly coded runescape private server mini game! They need to do some work on the osrs servers.. not just add random crap like that
