are there any good items to invest 07gp into. like things that are cheap now but will go up as more gp is introduced into the game from peoples alching. or is everything just going to go down as more people harvest the resources?

Everything is dropping I think, there is nothing to invest in at the moment since the economy is so new imo.

Remember your high school economics class? Hopefully you paid attention, because the valuable lessons you (hopefully) learned in that class can apply both to a virtual (Runescape) market and non-virtual one.

    • Commodities - Commodities will always hold value. They don't drop or rise significantly, as there is an unlimited amount of resources and an unlimited amount of lazy or time-conscious players. Maximum profit will be from harvesting raw materials yourself and producing a finished product, or selling the raw material itself. However, you can always buy these items and hold on to them. You won't be able to make a significant profit from them, and prices will almost virtually always be the same - so purchasing them at a low price and selling them later won't gain you an early retirement in RS.
    • Non-Necessities - Items such as obsidian capes, pirate's hats, and trimmed/gold armors (and etc.) are not necessary - they simply compliment the look of the player. Historically, if you follow the prices of these items, they are doing nothing but dropping in price. This is due to increased players completing treasure trails and increased activity in PvM. Eventually these items will hit an unofficial price floor, where the item will not be sold for any cheaper, which makes them similar to a commodity (over time), but almost guarantees a loss, rather than a profit.

Note: Weapons and armour is considered a necessity as well, seeing as how their prices do not fluctuate significantly.

Prices may be found on Zybez, updated regularly by players! The 2007 Runescape Unofficial Price Guide may be found here. Wish you all the best, my man.

Pure essence. I've already profited a fair bit from it rising, and as soon as they start nuking more bots, the price is just going to skyrocket.
