MSN alternate route?

So Microsoft just shut down MSN about half an hour ago. The only way to go through is to uninstall it and use Skype instead (which I already have but like MSN also)

Is there any way to carry on using MSN? I've heard of things like using a different client and such.

Anyone know?

Why would you want to if none of your friends know about the trick as well? You'll be the only one online...

I don't get why people are so obsessed with MSN. As of late it became very buggy ever since Microsoft decided to focus more on Skype. It makes a lot of sense to get rid of MSN too, considering they don't want to compete with themselves.

 

MSN sucked, I remember using MSN like 6 years ago when I was in school lol

 

Unlike MSN, Skype doesn't have email alerts to when an email comes through. I get a lot of emails through that I read on my Outlook account. As far as I know Skype doesn't have any email alerts.

 

You can still log on using skype, you can also merge your skype and MSN addresses. ALSO, you can launch multiple instances of skype by typing "/secondary" at the end of the target in the launch icon properties.

 

Thanks for that. I've already merged my MSN --> Skype account. I think I'll run with the two instances of Skype option.

Try both the shortcut and the main .exe in the skype folder. Should work for one of them.

 

Managed to add '/seconday', but now Skype won't allow me to sign in seeing as I'm already signed in on the same PC.

 

You said you merged your skype and MSN? You're already logged into both then.

 

Is there anyway to 'unmerge' them? Doubtful on this.

I can vouch for this, used it when msn did this to me and its working perfectly.

 

Thanks boys ^.^ I can log into MSN now. I guess I'll use it till Microsoft shut the servers down completely, although I've heard it will stay on in China, so maybe a method will pop up to make it appear as logging in from China.
