also just buy govinds how ot make your own bot guide or visit the other botting site, not going to name it not usre if its advertiseing or not, and make your own bot, not that hard.

 

Personally, I think its a great idea but as Clash said. It isn't a mere small project, although I feel its totally worth the effort because there's nothing to lose from this. On the contrary, there is much to gain from Sythe having there own bot. You also have to look at the legality as Richard would have to "possibly" deal with Jagex or legal issues in general towards the future, something that no person wants to go through.

Short answer... I support.

 

I mean, it would gain much more traffic to Sythe, it's up to big boy richy but i support this.

No support. I think people underestimate the amount of work needed for it. And I think that if Richard wanted to carry on with bots he would of. You must also consider all the legal stuff having all angles covered as no one would want to end up like nexus. Setting all the legal stuff up requires a lot of work, I would have thought and money.

There would just be a huge amount of work needed to be put in to get it up and running, but that's not all once you have a bot up and running you need scripters! Without scripters botting sites die quickly. I think if this went wrong it could end up losing members from sythe rather than gaining them.

 

I think is is a good idea, and it would help the site. The main 07 bot right now is tribot, and if sythe was able to make a bot that is comparable to that one, but where you don't have to pay the $5 fee to use it, the bot could easily take over. Sythe would have to find a developer for the botclient, which I don't think would be too hard. Other than that the legal issues are a huge problem. Rsbuddy, Nexus, kBot, and wBot all got shut down due to legal issues with jagex.

 

It has nothing to do with you funding it. If Sythe thought it would be a good idea he would happily fund it himself.

Been suggested and denied multiple times for multiple reasons.

No support. This wouldn't really strengthen the community and keep members active. All the bots I used previously, I would only sign up to the forums for the sake of using the bot. 5% of the bot users could POSSIBLY become active members.

 

I support! This would be very interesting. To answer the whole "leeching" situation where users just sign up to use a bot, have some really bad or simple bots such as walking to destinations or not the greatest money-making/skilling scripts and using more advanced scripts for those who donate or some process like that.

 

Elena, you obviously have no idea how complicated making an injection based Runescape bot client is. It's a complete framework which makes it easy for script writers to write scripts.

Unless you are willing to donate > $10.000 nobody capable of writing it is going to start writing an injection based Runescape bot client.

There used to be sythe bots, but they were removed ages ago. I'm sure it's been avoided because of legalities, and it'd take a lot of time to code it, so it'd cost you a small fortune elena (like $10k+). Btw, we don't want to have to do what RSBuddy/kBot etc did and shut down the forums aswell because they took control of the domain.

making a bot client on which other people can make scripts is a very complicated and time consuming task.
only professional or experienced developers will be able to complete such a job.

a good developer doesn't cost less than a few thousand $$ per month

 

Powerbot used to be RSBot, which was shut down by Jagex.

Although I'm uncertain why Powerbot is still around, the legal process may be much longer.

Assuming Richard may post, he would bring to light more accurate information as to why this may be a good/bad idea.

Terms of Service I would assume, although I am not completely certain.

 

Jagex was able to take control of the RSBot domain name because it contained "RS", which is a trademark of theirs. They haven't taken Powerbot because they can't.

 

Terms of service doesn't make any sense.
As in, violating it. The USER is violating ToS by using botting software, but they can't go after Sythe as we've never signed anything as a site or company.

It's illegal to be a "peeping tom," right? As in, looking into someone's house while they're undressing - let's just use this example.

If you do it, you're breaking the law. If I sell you binoculars, and you use them to look, you're still breaking the same law.

Would the police go after the binocular salesman? No, that wouldn't make any sense.
