I'm not going to say much other than posting this.
Just because Sythe is slowing down doesn't mean the moderators should be too. I've been lurking and posting for awhile now since I've been on break from training here, and I've seen like 5 mods the entire time, and I know all of their names and what they should be doing. Is anyone actually watching them?

I am only serving to spark an interest in noticing how little effort everyone's been putting into things. Gohan's the only one that does spam reports anymore. The community, even with great efforts from some mods and involved members, is turning black, shriveling and dying. The source of the problems needs to be surfaces and eliminated, and I believe staff that doesn't really care is at the top of the list. Maybe the problem is that it's all the same people?
creativity is lost with comfort. As a user gets comfortable in their moderator position, they will generally stop doing the things that got them in that position to start, and that's the problem. Staff should be a constant place to improve one another with a slight bit of competitiveness. I understand they're not paid, which is within reason, but there are plenty of perks to being a moderator around here.

I am open to others' opinions on this issue.

No one stands up and says this stuff anymore. The only active admins at the moment are n4n0 and Verts. I do agree the staff (and site) has been much more quieter than usual lately. I'm not on much at the moment seeing as I work every week day now.

I can think of 9 staff members who are never on and can be kicked off with no impact on the staff's performance. I would name them but I'm not causing drama >.>

That's what this section is for, and it's one of the issues. People keeping their mouths shut. Nobody ever spoke against Finn, and you see what happened with him.

I understand that staff have jobs, etc. But they're not supposed to be busy. Some may argue with that, but it's their jobs HERE to be a staff member at some point in the day. If they're not available for that, there are others who are.

PM me the names please so we can work towards resolving this with as little drama as possible.

 

I do exactly the same things as I did before I was mod, and a lot more.
I hardly do scam reports as I'm not properly familiar with the market. Same for pardons, most are market related so I don't bother.

If it was my forum, I wouldn't pick any other staff.
Yes there are times when things don't get done, but I trust them all and to me that is more important. It's like a workplace, if you're unsupervised then you'll likely slack a little until someone says something. We aren't freaks and we don't spend 24 hours a day on Sythe.

The past 2 weeks I have been working 14 hours a day 6AM - 8PM, coming in and cooking my dinner and eating, I sit with my girlfriend for a bit and I go to bed. That's how my days and night have been spent recently. Yet I still manage to get a few reports in here and there, I still post, I still reply to PM's and I still check my sections. I know other staff are in near enough the same situation as me.

It's a lot better than having some child who's on Sythe 24/7 and will do every single report, but then doesn't get what he/she wants and ends up fucking shit up.

 

Whilst I do agree with you on most of this, I'll still be looking in to how much each staff member contributes to both staff discussions and general staff responsibilities (spam reports, disputes, you know the drill) and if I do find any imbalances these will be addressed.

 

Thank you verts, that's really all I am asking is for someone to look around the subject. Shoop you're an exception on most parts, but you need to understand I'm addressing the issue towards the entire staff as a single entity instead of pointing out individual staff problems, as I haven't been back long enough to be able to personally justify that.

 

No problem. Working on teaming up with some others to figure out an effective way to audit staff activity.

 

You should check if they post around too, only doing staff stuff isn't enough imo.

this. if someone just does the spam reports etc, it isn't really a huge benefactor. Posting, helping here and there, are sometimes more important than the spam reports imo.

 

I've seen scam reports go 3+ days without a response while being bumped and stuff aswell. main thing i see along with reported posts going ignored.

 

Thank god Verts is around. @OP i agree it is pathetic; i would be just as mad as Xbit right if i waited 1 month+ to retrieve my account with no response...

Where is everyone? I've seen little activity these past weeks from most mods.

Another issue is mods who are lifting 'just enough' of their load to keep out of the inactive area, but not going that extra mile to keep sythe the #1 trading forum on the net. They do the bear minimum to keep their position as mod.

We can all see which mods are inactive; but nothing is being done about it?

Solution: *insert make Heeatz mod here* I don't know. A review of staff activity/position (like Verts mentioned above)? Hopefully that will fix it.

 

I feel xbit's pain as I waited almost three weeks for recovery on my account right around the beginning of the Mass Skype hackings. I don't know how many people I contacted to get it rectified. I got to the point of giving up but Roary and Moonglare helped me through. It took me creating 2 recovery accounts and posting a thread calling out the admin for something to be done and it shouldn't have reached that point. http://www.sythe.org/feedback/1522450-admin-team.html

But back OT:

I really hope that when Verts gets this issue settled, that we will truly have an active staff that will fix the current issue. I have had this on my mind for a while now but was to worried about flack to post it. Good on you to bring this to everyone's attention Blade

This problem could only be solved with strict new sythe staff standards, whom the top admins of the forum should create to ensure smooth forum sailing.

offtopic; how the fuck aren't the staff going to reply to a valued sythe member for over a month? that's bull shit, and straight laziness, if you ask me.

 

Didn't n4n0 said there would be some staff removals and possibility to apply and new members like a month ago or so?
