    Modem problem

My current modem can't handle 3 computers using the internet at once, so I have to restart the modem about twice a day.
My brother accidentally bought the netgear r6200 router instead of an actual modem.
My question is: Will the netgear router fix my problem of multiple devices?
Also will using my normal modem with this router increase my internet speed?
I'm on a high speed internet plan. I would test it out myself but unfortunately the router arrived when my brother went on a vacation.

The router won't help the modem. That's like...hmm. I need to think of a metaphor that fits.

Say you have a car that stalls out randomly twice a day. So you put new tires on it. It's still going to stall that same amount.

So, to answer, no the router won't fix the device, though I don't understand your original problem. You say it can't "handle" it. What can't it handle? Is the connection too slow with all three? I don't doubt if you have three computers running full-scale activities that you'll encounter a problem.

    Wireless or wired connections?

And modems and routers won't increase anything that they shouldn't already be giving you. Your ISP will allow you a certain amount of data and bandwidth dependent on what you're paying, and that won't change with a new device.

    And "test it out myself."

Get a refund on the router and get a '2 in 1' modem / router instead. Most ones today can handle many devices connected to them.

It's a wireless modem and my internet doesn't really slow with three devices on it. It just always randomly disconnects from the internet. This never happens when there's only 2 devices using the modem.
Edit: Also my current modem isn't living up to my internet plan capabilities. I was wondering if a new router would potentially speed it up.

There is no such thing as a wireless modem. If your modem is creating a wireless signal, then it's a 2-in-1 modem/router, which are quite common these days so I wouldn't be surprised. Mind giving me the model info?

...... I don't know if srs or trolling. Of course that's what I meant when I said "wireless modem."
My original question was "Will an upgraded router be able to handle multiple devices?" Since a router controls the flow of the packets from the modem.
