Old member looking for everyone's opinion!

Hey all, I've got a few questions and I'd like everyone's opinion that's been playing 07 RS, or I believe it's also called OSRS.

Is it the same? Of course I LOVED the game back in the day.
Will having botted the "new rs" ruined it for me? I don't know if I can grind and feel the same:/

Is skilling still prominent? I was a skill pure in my latter days of scape. I love the merchanting and skilling aspects of the game.

Economy thriving? How is all of that? I assume the G.E. is no longer around?


And with that, just some overall opinions! Share your experiences!​

That totally didn't answer any of my questions:/ I was hoping to have a nice discussion here before I can actually play. I'm in the process of buying a new vehicle and I really have no money to spare at this time, though I'd love to give the game a try.

 

I've been playing 3+ hours a day everyday so far, I'm slowly becoming addicted to it again. Hope you join, man.

 

I'm thinking about it! It may just be the thing I needed looking for a "new mmo" haha.

 

If you played Runescape in 2007 you'll fall in love again, otherwise I don't think you'd understand and probably not play as much. There's already people with 200M xp in specific skills, so you can see the determination (and power of a bot) in certain individuals.

 

I have skill pure'd since around 06. And I played 07 RSPS's after the wild was first removed.

 

If you love skilling then the early stages of OSRS will be extremely profitable to you - the longer you hesitate to join, the less profitable they will be.

For example: Sharks were 1,000gp/ea the first month -> 400gp/ea the second month.

Magic logs right now also sell for 1,150gp/ea in Cammy bank w1/2.

Time is of the essence.

I made a new account right off the bat, made it member, and logged onto OSRS. I never played EoC with it.

I think the EoC account is connected to the OSRS account though.. I'm not sure, EoC is gay lol.

 

Haha, I'm aware, but my old skill pure is still in EOC. logged today and almost shit when I saw i was 4 combat and naked with my training bow on my back.

 

There's a fair few bots running around, which sucks but w/e.

There's also a big problem at the moment of random people getting banned and it taking ages for their offence to get 'quashed' by Jagex.

Other than that, the clan world is thriving and will get even better when the F2P gear servers come out.

More and more people are getting their levels up for PK'ing, Duelling, etc., so you'll see commodities like food and pots becoming more in-demand soon (and prices will adjust themselves appropriately - the only reason Shark is so low at the moment is because not many people can afford to use them!!!).

The sad part of OSRS is the fact that there is no F2P, so the flow of players coming into the game is eventually going to be outnumbered by the people getting banned/leaving. Unless they put real F2P, I wouldn't put much stock into OSRS living a meaningful existence past the 2 year mark.

And ahh, I understand your point. Are they planning on implementing f2p?

 

its fun bc it reminds us of the good ol days but the fact that there are no RARES kills me, i like skilling and doing some old things plus real pking is cool but didnt we all play the game to one day earn that santa hat then mask and eventually a phat or 2. To me the lack of rares kills motivation and as stated already, its cool for now but i dont see intrest staying around for too long.

i would say enjoy it while you can, it is very similar to how it was but NOT the same, everyone started from scratch a few months ago so the hierachy is not there

 

There's been no mention of it so far, and I strongly doubt it will even be considered until at least August when they evaluate the popularity of OSRS.

 

I would join fast before bots totally ruin everything.

 

Yeah, but I don't want to join something that will be "ruined." I want something that's going to continue to thrive and improve.

 

The new 07 is amazing! I would say pking is the best aspect atm , makes you $$ aswell if you have a bit skill.

If you mean "ruined" as in OSRS will die out, I doubt it. The community and positive response from OSRS is undeniable .... Jagex has around 3~ Jmods on the OSRS team, and they plan to increase that number. Considering the fact OSRS is only available the p2p players makes its success all the more impressive. Eventually, I bet it'll be open to f2p, but probably after its evaluation.
