Not sure if this is possible but I'm like 90% sure my other laptop which works but is unbearably slow has a keylogger so I would like to return it to just the absolute bear minimum of programs so it's fast and has no keylogger. Also my computer I use now could be faster so I'd like to restart fresh without the programs I've downloaded. Anyway to return it to pretty much the way you get it from the store? Thanks in advance.

I don't think you should bother with re-installing your OS at all, unless of course, if what you want is to clear out your HDD. I use this free to use software 'Glary utilities', it fixes up your registry problems and clears some temporary files which slows your pc down a little. By the way I read its review before downloading on cnet.com and it was trusted and a good software according to the review. Also there are a few temporary files (couple of mb's) which can slow your overall performance down that don't get removed even with glary utilities (but I do both because it's just better). The way to do that is to go into start, in the search bar type %temp%. This opens your temporary files folder and I delete everything in there (a few files aren't removable from that too so you can't do anything about those). And finally clean your recycling bin often. I've been doing all these steps for quite a while and on my 2 and a half year old 600$ (usd) laptop, I can play games fairly decently along with listening to music and surfing the net. GL

    THIS

the ONLY way you're going to be 100% sure that your computer is clean of ANY and ALL malware is to just start anew. Either that, or use System Restore to roll your computer back to a previous date when you KNOW that everything was running properly. It's very easy.

What I recommend is to reformat the computer and install a fresh copy of windows. Get your drivers and everything you need updated....up-to-date. Then go ahead and install ALL of the programs and games and so-forth as you would like to have it once your computer is up and running. Download a program that is used for "ghosting hard drives". this program will create a compressed image of everything that's on your hard drive(much like system restore does) and will allow you to save it as a bootable image. Store this on an external drive and keep it safe. You can use this image if you ever upgrade to a new hard drive or change over to a new computer...it will simply load the image onto the new HDD and you'll be exactly where you left off on the drive. I would also set up a system restore point with a custom name on the computer just in case...this way you have a double backup.

The reason I suggest a ghost image...is it makes things very quick and easy in the future if it happens again..
