    Your opinions on Silkroad.

This isn't advertising Silkroad in any way shape of form, it's been in the media many times so just want to have a discussion on it.

OK, don't you think it is crazy nowadays you can anonymously send someone cash via Bitcoins in return for Crack, Heroin, LSD, Meth, Cocaine, Cannabis and other illegal items and substances and receive them in the post.....

I know there are other established sites on the underground internet that offer this service and most of them are invite only for obvious reasons but sites like Silkroad at times have over 1.2M USD in Bitcoins sitting in their wallet from customers uploading funds.

What is stopping these people from shutting up shop and running off with customers money, it's crazy.

What are your opinions on Bitcoins and sites like these on the underground internet. I know there are other sites like Child Pornography and all that shit on there too but to order drugs and get them sent to your door in my eyes so so fucked up lol.

Also a well established Silkroad seller named Tony was getting out of the Silkroad game so decided to run off with over 100K usd worth of Bitcoins from customers and cashed them out so with Bitcoin you have no protection and you are relying on trust.

I think its better then actually buying drugs in person. Less risk of being caught(If you know what you're doing) and less risk of being stabbed. Iv never used the site before but maybe in the future i might be interested in buying LSD from silkroad but to be honest getting bitcoins then washing them and encrypting them is just a hassle and i just don't feel like going though that whole process.

There are many sites like Silkroad out there, but pretty much the whole point of Bitcoin is they are based on trust. A vendor account is like 25 BTC, but once a vendor made his money back what is stopping him from doing what Tony did and scam 100K USD in coins.

Also LiteCoin have started a -Free Open Market- obviously to try add value to Bitcoin which they did but a vendor account there is only 25 bucks, so obvious there will be a huge amount of scamming done before it becomes established.

Your better off meeting some non-sketchy people in real life, unless you buy mass ammounts at a time. Buying a weekly fix every week would start to look suspect.

A lot of people these days still seem to think that Silkroad is underground, but it is a lot more mainstream than ever. I bet that place is filled with undercover cops.

Yea Silkroad is full of them lol, YouTube tuts and the media reporting on them. All the good ones are invite one for a reason, although one called Darknet I believe ended up getting busted by undercover cops.

Silkroad's Bitcoin savings account is booming tho.

overrated. people think that they're some super secret awesome haxz0r for buying drugs online and not getting caught, when in reality you could just get a dealer and not have to wait for shipping and not have as much of a risk............

Not pointless? id like to see you find acid or some decent acid. You can't. Silkroad might be the only place you could be able to find it. Also heroin/crack/coke addicts could use it if their dealer has run out to avoid dope sickness. So its far from pointless.

Well obviously not pointless, there will always be people ordering. Considering the amount of BTC Silkroad has in their account at the moment they are successful from fee's and selling vendor licenses.

Its probably mainly the DEA who monitors that website so if i buy a gram of weed their going to have to find out what country/state/province i'm in then have to collaborate with my local authorities in order to bust me. Since weed is decriminalized here their not going to waste their money and my country def isn't going to waste their money to bust down my door and give me a ticket just because i bought a small amount of marijuana. I wouldn't worry about buying small amounts of drugs. I assume its the vendors they are mainly going after or people buying bulk amounts of drugs.

If your shifting grams on grams of Crack a day on there then you would obviously be a target. Maybe if you was a vendor in the UK they would try go after you but that is the wonders of BTC. Untraceable, one of the reasons the government don't like it. Obviously their argument against Bitcoin is Silkroad since it has gotten so mainstream with the media and obviously it uses Tor so the government will label it as connected with Child Porn.

Going to a dealer is pretty risky especially with all of the drug busts going on, at least when you order on line you know if it is found in the mail being delivered to you, you can't be charged whereas if you go in person and get caught you will most likely be charged with x amount of possession and maybe even trafficking.

Some people are willing to take the risk and those who are holding the bitcoins know their business will suffer more than it is worth to steal the money. Also those sites with over $1mil in bitcoins are making far more than that, the silk road owners are making close to $100k off of commissions alone monthly and if they did run off it would hardly be worth it to lose a big chunk of their business.

Think it's quite clever tbh, i personally wouldn't order of there as i don't get the whole shipping drugs over international waters to one's door (seems a bit risky to me).

Hmm I wonder what he wants those for?
Just kidding! Although Silk Road has had a lot of bad press (understandably) I think it's a far more of a solution than a problem. Buying drugs on the streets can lead to far worse situations than intended, I.e getting mugged, being convinced into buying something far more 'serious' than you wanted and most importantly getting spiked with some s*** they put in it to make them a tiny bit more profit. Silk Road allows people to buy drugs in a far safer environment, and I definitely think in the long run people who buy drugs rather online rather than on the streets are far safer. Besides, people say this makes people more likely to do drugs, but just because there is a website for them instead it doesn't instantly change people's view on drugs...

I think it's good if you want something like shrooms or LSD, which may be hard to obtain depending on your dealer. I've also heard the quality is much better than what your average high school dealer can get their hands on.
