iPad VS Ultrabook For College

I have an iPad, with an external Bluetooth keyboard.
I can, buy an ultrabook for $1500

Heres the argument:

I am not going to do anything fancy, just take notes in class.

My iPad, can take notes, very easily with an external keyboard, and upload them straight to Google Docs. At the end of the day,
I'll have all my notes uploaded online for future reference. It can also be used to watch movies when I can put on it for during
break times.

If I get an ultrabook/laptop, I can do the same thing. Sure it can do alot more, but for simple note taking, should I spend $1500 on a
ultrabook? (I have to buy a laptop anyways so why not spend that money on a gaming laptop for home use?)

I don't want to game on it, if I do it'll be CS 1.6 (which I can use on bootcamp if I get a macbook pro)

What do you think?

 

Just avoid Dell altogether and look for another Laptop.

Laptop, you will get tired of using a iPad for general use.

 

I bought a laptop when I entered college. HP EliteBook 8570p, ssd. Happy with it so far.

 

At the end of the day all I'm doing is taking notes. Nothing too fancy. The iPad has an external keyboard, and has the basic note taking softwares which are free.

What do you think?

 

it seems as if you are satisfied using your IPad.

Dont buy a $1500 laptop if all your going to be using it for is notes. No point, you can also just buy paper and a pen to take notes...$5 compared to $1500.

Buy one if you will use it for more than just notes and CS1.6 as I am sure a laptop that costs $200 can easily run 1.6

Why is Dell bad?

 

iPad is nice, it's easy to carry around with. I would stick with the iPad.

 

I use a iPad right now for just note taking etc. like you are and I find it great. Unless you are planning to game or something an iPad should just be fine.

 

If its strictly for notetaking, you don't need an ultrabook. Laptops are obviously more versatile, but I would stick with the iPad if you already blew your money on it.

Don't let people dissuade you from buying a Dell machine. I recently reviewed a Dell XPS 12 at work and it was easily one of the best laptops I've ever used.

 

You don't need anything more than a $300-400 laptop for general college use. You'll be wasting your money on anything more.

 

I'd buy an ultrabook and put Linux on it. That'll be able to do a lot more than your ipad.

 

I would recommend getting an ultrabook, but not worth $1500. On most company sites (Hp, Apple, Dell, etc), you can customize an ultrabook and most won't cost you more than $1400 (unless you go all out or choose Apple).

 

Why would he do that, it's for general college use. He will do word processing and general internet research at the most. Maybe a bit of YouTube and social media in his free time but that's it.

 

Buy a bloody laptop that isn't expensive, ipad is gonna be useless later on anyways.

 

If its for general use why would he need to spend 1500 bucks on it? That's being highly economically inefficient. You can certainly get a ultrabook for cheaper than 1500 that's top quality.
