Yes, I do believe people deserve a second chance.

At least some people who have been banned for "associating with undesireables" and such from Finn do deserve to make a case for unban.

This is stupid. If you don't want pardons then give us a reason why.

No there shouldn't be, the only people who should deserve to have a chance at returning are the ones who amend their mistakes before they are caught. Most people who ask for a pardon do so after they have been caught and a lot of the votes are based on how the mods/ admins perceive the "new you", it's really easy to change your character over the internet and there's no way to really know if the person has truly changed. By relying on the pardon system you are assuming people are telling the truth but in most cases there is already evidence of a person's bad character present on the site which is not held into account as much as it should be.

It is also really easy to manipulate people into thinking you have changed through friendships and supportive posts. I'm going to call out dj here because he's the only one I can see who's posted in the pardon.

http://www.sythe.org/12175527-post2.html there's no reason nerfed should be receiving a support after what he did and the support is mainly because he is his friend, not irl but over the internet. I know this wasn't a pardon but even with Sebastian you did the same thing, where you supported him due to his character rather than the evidence present on the site but you weren't the only one who supported him and he was a pretty good lier.

Sorry I called you out DJ but you're the only one I could see in the dispute section at the moment and I've made the mistake before as well helping Novorites get unbanned because I believed he was a good person but he really wasn't and he ended up scamming a lot of money here, none of us are trained enough to be able to fully know if a person has changed and we are relying too much on the person's wording/ bonding than their past actions when voting on a pardon.

No, most people only pardon because they got caught scamming. If they didn't get caught then they wouldn't be banned.

When most people get caught they aren't sorry for scamming, they are sorry they got caught.

So are you saying there should be pardons but not pardons for scammers? Or just no pardons all together.

    No pardons for scammers.

It is not like anyone can pardon to the judge for their mistake before being sent to prison or after.

Ofc. Anyone who disagrees has a rather negative view. People CAN change, it's totally possible. 99% of the people here have scammed at one point or time, and many of them have changed.

Of course there should be pardons, that's like saying someone getting life in prison for petty crime and not getting released back to the community. I guess they all have the potential to scam again, but I guess it's up to the mods to decide who they think has proved themselves and changed their ways. That being said, It's not as simple as making a pardon 6 months after your ban and off you go, hardyhoo. It is fairly rigorous, in regards to having to get 5/6? supports.. having to pay back all people you have scammed etc. And even then, they can still be denied.

In Canada I can call a police officer a jack ass and I won't get thrown in jail for 2 months...

If I was a stock broker and stole a petty $5k there is no chance of me ever being a stock broker again even after I return the $5k and take my jail time, by allowing scammers to rejoin the site you are basically slapping them on the wrist for getting caught, most of the people who return have ban evaded and are only being allowed back because they ban evaded and displayed a desirable behavior while ban evading.

You aren't protecting your legitimate members by allowing scammers back.

Yea, try get a job in real life with a criminal record for theft. No real employer would want to take you on in case you started stealing from them.

There wouldn't be a criminal record filed as it's such a petty crime. Unless it was something major that you were caught for.. IE theft of a motor vehicle etc.

like i said, no one changes their veiws/beleifs, they just change their actions to seem changed for the public, but if they knew they could get away with it again without being caught they'd do it again.

If you steal a CD valued at $15 it still appears on your criminal record as theft under $5000. Whether it is $15 or $4999 it still appears on your criminal record, you can be pardoned but it is a lot more difficult than 5 mod supports + upper voting and if you were to commit another crime after it wouldn't further increase your chances of pardoning your first offence.

I wouldn't agree with you on that, I could almost guarantee that the first time this happened you would simply get a slap on wrist. And even if you were caught stealing something of the value that low, you would be ordered by the court to repay said item, and get a fine in which would be paid to the government. No criminal conviction would be filed for something that minor.

EDIT: I am speaking in terms of Australian Law, so I understand laws are different all over the world! Not an attack, just my personal opinion.
So yes, I agree with being able to pardon. Whether or not someone has scammed, they deserve a second chance if they can prove otherwise. Maybe an option of a mandatory TWC once they have been pardoned of said scams?
