Vote for rares to become tradable!

The only reason people want rares now is because they know that they are going to be valuable.. Show me one person who isn't going to hoard them? Voted yes to rares, no to trading them.

 

That's one side to the argument, but I do like the idea that people that have never had a rare and literally can't on EoC because it's too expensive have a chance to have one here. And that's from someone who is very wealthy in the EoC version of the game. Most people with wealth would probably cry about rares coming back at all, arguing it somehow devalues their EoC stuff. But I don't think that's the case. That'd be like saying you're mad someone is on a private server with 100 partyhat sets.

 

They will be discontinued and every single player will have an equal opportunity to get it if Jagex will distribute them in the same method as they did back in day. They have dropped a very limited amount of rares in the various parts of RuneScape. In my opinion, that is the best method to distribute them. They will be rare, and with the time they will become more and more rare because of bans, people dropping/dieing with them. If will want one and won't get lucky - then start saving.

Birdy, that's right, but it will be based on luck, will you find it laying on the ground or not. It's one of the reasons why players want rares, but people also like them as items, you can't disagree with that. If everyone is going to wear partyhats and santa hats, it's not going to be that ''cool'' anymore, and will look more like a private server.

 

This is giving them the option to have a 'rare', but have it non tradable. There isn't a large enough economy at the moment to support buying and selling rares anyway. The only reason people would get rares would be to hold on to them until the market picks up and there is more gold in the game.

Also, I'd rather Pk in a phat swagging out and wrecking nerds without any fear of losing hundreds of millions worth of GP.

 

You're going on the assumption that rares are just going to be given out to everyone for free if they become untradable.. Maybe they will be put in a limited drop event? People that had Sythes on their accounts still had a discontinued rare that was valuable when selling their account because you could no longer obtain it.

Assuming they make it a discontinued rare after an event (without the trade function) they will still become 'rare' as you would have to have been playing at the time of the event. All other accounts past this point wont be able to obtain them, so it becomes completely an aesthetic thing.

 

Rares are necessary gold sinks in the end-game economy.

Anyone who votes otherwise is extraordinarily silly and has not experienced proper end-game. They should be introduced but in a limited, tradable supply. If they are constant they are not truly "rare." If you are against this for the reason that rich players will hoard them - this has already happened. Don't be silly. This game feels dead without extreme long-term goals. Please vote for them to be tradable.

Then no one will give a shit that you're doing it. Rares will feel worthless and cheap. The way you're posting provokes the assumption you've never owned a rare before.

 

No where does it state in the question posted by Jagex that they will be discontinued. They could be introduced in a shop for 1gp each but made tradable, there's no way to determine from the ambiguity of the question how they are going to be released.

Can you please explain to me what 'end-game' is in a game that is based on PvM, PvP and skilling. I wasn't aware that aesthetic items that have no use whatsoever affected the 'end-game' game play.

People play the game for enjoyment, if you want to play a game based on economy.. Invest your time/money in the IRL stock market.

That's a fairly unnecessary point to make. I owned rares in pre-EOC so it's also an invalid point. At the end of the day the game is pixels and if you feel this strongly about it then you probably need to get out of the house more.

Also, to everyone who disagrees with my opinion, I would like to point out, that I had almost every possible tradable holiday item in pre EOC RuneScape. Also played RuneScape before construction skill was released. Have a couple of real life friends who had original RS classic accounts.

If you don't have a long-term history, then please save your and our time and don't comment at all.

 

I wish they'd explain exactly how they'd put them in because if everyone gets a tradeable rare that would be brutal.

Meh of course everyones gonna vote yes. Then theres going to be people that instantly try to sell them and the people that will try to buy up every single one to control the market. It'll just be a huge letdown unless all the goldfarmers buy them up for ridiculous prices. People don't want the item, they want the money.

I just dont think rares will be the same... I cant think of a correct way to release them... what made them special to me was the time they were released and such, but i wont complain to much either way.

 

I hope they're tradeable.

 

You guys are really debating about how the input of rares will affect the 07 scape economy and inflate prices....

Well according to the phillips curve unemployment should fall if inflation rises which means negates the negative effects of the inflation. Oh and the input of a real variable (rares) will not have any affect on something nominal such as the rs money supply.. #troll over

For real guys rares are cool please give me the option of spending 400 dollars on a cool blue hat so I can have people follow me when I walk in game.
