Rare items poll: How did YOU vote?

If you guys have been to the OSRS homepage today, you've probably noticed the new poll up.

How did you vote?

I voted Yes for rare items, but I voted No to them being tradeable.

I'd obviously like to have some of the rares for cosmetic purposes, but I don't see a legitimate reason to have them in the game as tradeable items.

Tbh, I don't really care about rares beeing tradable or not. But phats should be way harder to obtain than the rest. It always used to be a symbol of wealth. We don't want to see noobs running around with phats, do we?

In my option, the best thing to do would be to put them in shops for 1b+ each with the ability to sell them back for the same price at any time.

 

That would effectively mean they aren't rare items, since there would be an unlimited supply in a shop.

Well, there's a big differences between "rare items", "discontinued items" and "rare discontinued items".

If they put phats in shops for enormous prices they would still remain rare and be rarely seen by anyone.

When they released party hats in 2001, there wasn't so many people playing as they are now and it took around 4-6 years to become truly rare. So, now that there's way more people playing it would mean way more party hats, meaning they wont be rare at all if they gave 1 person each.

If they prove out to become massive cash holders and common RWT items, they could simply make them untradable.

people who vote no just dont get how important tradeable rares are. YES for both.

 

I voted yes for both, want to get my hands on a phat.

 

Voted yes to both and hoping for them to be added to clue scrolls at a rate rarer than 3rd age.

 

I think the best way for them to do this would be to release a number of rares based on the amount of active rares in August 07. (Also considering the ratio of players of course).

This way once all of the rares are released they are once again discontinued, they should go out on a first come first serve basis, with them being in a shop for a certain price with only the limited amount being put out.

This would then mean the people willing to work their ass off to get up to the rare and get one of the limited stock are the people who get their hands on a discontinued item.

 

This is the dumbest idea and against the whole point of rares.

Yes and Yes. They will defs be introduced for obvious reasons, but the most beneficial one is that the game needs a money sink.

 

Stole the words out of my mouth. I love rares for cosmetic purposes and when it comes to the tradeable part, the game does need this economy sink.
