I just got scammed $100 paypal

Some kid just scammed me $100 paypal. I sent him the money, he gave me the wrong password then proceeded to log.
I launched a paypal dispute for unauthorised transaction, saying my password was hacked and he sent himself the money.

Am i going to get my money back?

How long usually does it take untill paypal sorts this thing out?

 

if you sent the money on the same IP that was used to create the account on PayPal you will not receive a dime back, although you can state you are a parent, and your child used your paypal in which you did not authorize.

I did the dispute from a different IP. Will that count for anything?

 

In all honesty, I don't know how they actually base the conclusion of the disputes. Because of the large amount, I personally, would contact PayPal themselves and discuss the matter with them. But in saying that, because it is unauthorized then I believe you should stick with that when speaking to them. If the payment was made by credit card, maybe you can contact your credit card company and they will chargeback the payment instantly. If it was PayPal funded I believe the only option is to dispute.

Anyone else have any advice?

 

You claim that he hacked your PP and sent himself the money but it is easy for paypal to check and see if the same ip is sending money to the same ip. Since that won't be the case they will no and unfortunately you are most likely out of luck =/

wow if only my friend didnt rush me to make the dispute i could of done it properly and had a great chance of recovering money. I seriously think ill self-harm if i dont get that money back

 

rofl the same shit happened to me last week, but I got scammed 38.50 and it was on powerbot.

The other person and I agreed to do 50/50 (I send him 38.50, he'd give me the gp, I'd send him the rest) After sending the first amount the idiot just blocked me off Skype. I was hella mad and disputed it on PP within minutes after it happened and claimed that it was unauthorized. It was stupid of me to do that, I know that now...I finally got an email from them 5 days later saying they wouldn't decide in my favor.

Well it is impossible to claim you were hacked if you sent the payment from your own ip; don't bother trying they will check and when they find out you are lying which they will easily by checking the ip on transaction they will probably lock your account.

How did you send the payment? If it was credit card funded or bank funded you can ask your bank/credit card company to reverse the payment?

That would be a horrible idea, thats like saying, " Hey PayPal, Im lying and would like to try again". Next time dispute that the item was never received, that you paid and it was a craigslist transaction, then call them and explain how it was "Supposed" to go down, then you should win. With what you did,you're screwed.

 

That's a lie, my friend got scammed 200 Bucks and I disputed it for him over Teamviewer from his same IP and he rung up PP after the dispute had been done for a day and they said they will speak with their manager and two seconds later 200 bucks in his PayPal.
