Life. 9-5 grind. what to do...

I know school is important, but why should i go to school for something i don't enjoy doing. I don't see myself going to university. Hell i don't see myself even finishing 2 years in college. Its not that i'm not capable of graduating its just i don't feel this is something i want to do with my life. I really don't know what i want to do. Even if i do get a degree what am i going to do? work some job for decent pay that i hate? That is not for me. When i see people like that i feel bad for them. Living like that kills your soul. Id probably shoot myself. Then again if i don't go to school i will probably just end up at some shitty minimum wage job just barely getting by. Id like to hold on to the hope that that won't happen.

Id like to travel, do sometimg in the arts, maybe acting. Now i know that i wont become a star but i'm talking about doing plays or small things like that. I know its not steady income but i think id rather at least TRY it. I also like playing poker but that wont take me anywhere. I don't wanna look back on my life in 10 years and have it be filled with regrets. Hell i already have way to many of those.
This is why this summer iv decided to go on a sort of soul searching kind of journey to figure out what i want in life. I need to start taking some risks and stop playing life so safe.

Lot of people have this view. I am 22 and I have no idea what I want to do, working in the arts and having a more ``hippie' view on life is good.

If you want to live freely then don't get into debt, don't get a chick up the duff and have no financial commitments. People want what there neighbours have and get into debt to keep up with the rat race.

Fuck that.

I took a 70% pay cut to study in a field which i enjoy ( town and environmental planning) I now live within my means. I found what makes me happy and took a risk. Find your talent if it be acting then guy for it work bar or other jobs at same time and just go for it.

Now to the poker, start small with online funds and cap your max amount. If your from USA i don't know how you guys play for cash so I cant help there. I am currently starting my poker career, at 50c buy in's I am taking it seriously learning from my mistakes. (My first dep. on fult tilt was $20, and 40 buy ins will help deal with tiltage.)

You could always go to finland and study and then come back to the US and find a job.

I heard free education including college up to bachelors or masters degree.

 

I live in Canada and schooling in my province is cheap as hell so money isn't a problem.

The first thing I want to note is that a job may not always be what you love doing, but it provides you with the ability to do what you want to do. A job is a way of getting money to support a living, in which that money can be used to do what we really want to do (hobbies, holidays, clothes, luxury, travel as you say, live life...).

You state you don't want to be forced into doing something you think is pointless for you in the future, and you want to do other things.... but you understand that in order to live life you need a job.

So why don't you want to find a job that can provide you with a living, that can HELP others, that provides a service for other people so in the end, you have the resources to act and play poker and do things you want to do?

Perhaps, if you're not willing to sacrifice your time and effort to do such things, you don't deserve doing what you want.


If you don't want to live life with regrets, you put every damn second of your life each and everyday to strive in becoming a better person mentally and physically. Suck it up, cut the bull shit and put your best efforts everyday to give yourself a greater purpose, to provide you with the essential tools you need to do what you want to do.

Just remember, the average person has 4-6 jobs in their life, you don't always life so monotonously.
