When I mid-lane Cho'Gath, I always debate whether grabbing teleport/ignite as a second summoner spell is best. If the bot lane match-up does not look favorable, I normally grab teleport so I can TP in on a vision ward and do a nice gank. This requires a great job by the support though, and willingness of the adc/support to dive once I teleport in.

Otherwise, my summoner spell is wasted, and could potentially ruin the lane pressure until the phase is over.

 

Teleport is a waste on mid because you have the closest walk to bot.

 

Not true! Anyone who saw xPeke's Kassadin TP backdoor vs SK can testify to that. Teleport, should you use it properly, lets you splitpush and then join fights or gank top and then immediately gank bottom. also nobody expects homeguard+teleport ganks

 

Only if top doesn't take teleport.

I agree that teleport is very underrated. I often take it and do exactly what Tgump said: homeguard ganks. Have my bottom or mid lanes initiate while I'm at base, then I teleport to a ward in a bush and come in at 1000 movement speed for epic rape.
