Yah, astronomy is my bread and butter of sciences so I was excited to see a topic about it. But instead I get ridiculous theories and people who don't know when to use the word Sun.

Please explain how Wormholes and the theory of general relativity (physics based equation) isn't astronomy when it's a phenomena that MIGHT exist in the cosmos?

 

1) Time travel =/= astronomy
2) "Wormhole" is a theoretical connection between two points of space whose routed distance between is shorter than the physical distance between. The theory is not specific to black holes, the only thing I can assume you're thinking of and therefore linking to astronomy. It's published that humans can create infinitesimal and extremely brief wormholes by smashing atoms in particle accelerators. QED not astrological.

4) Physics is not a subset of Astronomy. Physics is a branch of mathematics. Astronomy is the study of celestial bodies. A study involves the use of mathematics and sciences. Just because it includes Physics doesn't mean Astronomers are going to observe me throwing a ball off a cliff with an angular momentum.




tl;dr the only connection between your genius thread and Astronomy is the POSSIBILITY that black holes exist as theorized.

 

The entire point of your argument here that wormholes should not be considered a part of astronomy is that you have a slightly varied definition of the word 'astronomy'. I'm quite aware of the difference between a black hole and a wormhole... anybody with over 50 IQ is. Science is surrounded by theories, and as its name implies, the THEORY of general relativity is used elsewhere in astronomy, and can be applied here. Wormholes are technically a part of astronomy, regardless of whether or not they have been proven, until such a time as they can be proven to NOT exist. As for black holes not being observed, you do realise that the name of a black hole is derived from light being unable to escape them? You cannot SEE a black hole... Evidence for the existence of them has been found, and a simple google search would reveal that. White holes are a part of astronomy as well, despite the fact that they too are theoretical and there is not a shred of evidence supporting them besides them being a POSSIBLE solution to general relativity.
