I was going to put this in SFA, but really there's MAYBE a single documentary (which I think I remember running into at some point), and absolutely no one here has any clue how the brain works, nor the effects this event would have on the brain, so I don't feel like bringing the SFA IQ lower than it's current score (60-ish).

ANYWAY, would you participate in Group Think events (explained below) if such technology were discovered and proven "safe".

Here's some things to consider when you think about your answer.

    1) Group Think is an event where hundreds or thousands of people gather, link themselves to a singular computing machine, and ponder solutions to current worldly problems. Think Avatar:

    2) We assume the computer gathers the consciousnesses of everyone linked and combines them into a singular consciousness, where everyone thinks, feels, and interacts in perfect unison.

    3) The effect would be perfect communication with no dilution or misunderstanding of meaning, born of our limited language. One would think a thought, and EVERYONE will have the same thought and will instantaneously be able to counter (or build upon) that thought should there be an error the original thinker was unaware of. This flawless communication would trash any possible misunderstandings or miscommunications. There would be no wasted time with words or explaining thought processes since you've all arrived to the same conclusion at the same rate.

    4) This would eliminate all privacy. No one would have a choice as to what they want to share or not share when connected.

    5) There would be no ill effect on your individual consciousness after disconnecting from Group Think (other than your own emotional responses to things you learn about yourself or people during Group Think)

I, personally, would participate. Not only do I think the power of thousands of minds working in tandem is utterly overwhelming and potentially awe-inspiring in its results, but it would also be an incredible opportunity to share in and benefit from the wealth of knowledge from those smarter than yourself.

Hello, i would like to participate as well, but in our past history, if someone could create this type of computer in the future, it would be so beneficial for humanity for sure without any doubt, but if we think, wouldn't countries, supremacies, fight for these kind of technology like they did before?

There is always a group of people that would like to work together, learn together, share etc.. for sure, and they wouldn't use this type of computer only for themselves, if this type computer exists in the future, should be keep at secret and limited to some persons, that's what i think.

I can't agree with that until you clarify how this could be abused. Certainly, politicians-- being the snaky liars and finaglers that they are-- wouldn't want to participate, so it's not like there would be a possibility of a threat to national security should a spy submerge themselves into a Group Think session. However, to be safe, maybe there would have to be proof of citizenship in order to participate in whatever country you're Group Thinking for.

Another thing I want to add is a policy of immunity. Volunteer Group Think session are not incriminating should evidence be found of anything less then a non-violent felony.

Hopefully, in the new world this creates, there wouldn't be a need for politicians or hierarchy, everyone would work equally to create a better tomorrow
