Diamond Player - AMA

Hey guys, I just wanted to get more involved with the community by making this thread. I'll try my best to answer any questions you guys have

About Me:

Season 1: I started a little bit before the release of Garen. Surprisingly I played my first 1000 games or so in 3's for the most.

Season 2: Season 2 was all about improving. I started the season around 1150 ELO in January, completely unsatisfactory for me. I strived to become a better player form then on and eventually peaked at 1838 ELO around July. Stopped played for the most part until early October as school started.

Season 3. I've had immense success season 3 despite my account getting hacked. I finished preseason at roughly 1950 ELO and was placed in Platinum 2 once the changes came. Once i got to Plat 1 i got hacked and dropped to plat 5, was quite painful. I'm now Diamond 3 and hoping to get even higher.

Some of you may know me from the league of legends market where I have my own boosting service and team sales. Nowadays i've been taking a break from boosting in order to improve myself, enjoy the game and of course get more involved with the community!

I'm not sure how many of you would be interested in a thread like this but I'm just throwing this up incase.

Hey, was wondering if you would ever want to duo and potentially tell me what kind of mistakes I am making so I can improve on them.

 

I tend to play mid/jungle as I feel it exerts the most pressure on the map.

Say i was in bronze elo; is playing Jungle a good role to carry with? If not which role?

I personally jungled all the way from bronze. I found 1200-1600 to be fairly difficult though. This leads me to believe that playing mid may be easier in terms of carrying.

I boost playing mid as well, for the most part at least.

 

Who do you usually play when playing in mid lane?

 

Thoughts on Ryze?

 

My favorite champion mid is Katarina by far. Those resets

 

I think Ryze is a very strong champion that scales well throughout the game. I don't have a ton of experience playing him though.

I'm thinking about buying Caitlyn/Nidalee right now.
I tried out Nidalee as she is free right now and I love playing her.
I've been wanting Caitlyn for a while and so i thought I would get your opinion.. which one should I buy?

I also have 6k RP but I don't know if I should use it on champs. I heard it was more worth it for IP .

I'm not diamond, but I think I can contribute here--

As for the champion decisions, why do you want Caitlyn? Is there something you can do with her that other carries can't? She can be fun to play with her range and traps, but ultimately doesn't bring anything unique to how you play the game.

On the other hand, Nidalee definitely offers her own experience. Assuming you're building her AP, she has a very mechanically demanding lane phase; if you succeed and have plenty of farm or kills by the time your team starts grouping up, you can chuck some really devastating spears. If you watch tournament streams, I'm sure you've seen Nidalee spears take out 70% of an AD carry's health in one go.

Regarding the RP vs IP: Use it on whatever you want, but keep in mind that skins can only be purchased with RP and runes can only be purchased with IP. Generally, because you have a constantly regenerating supply of IP, it's a better idea to spend the IP on champs or runes and then grab skins with all that RP. Personally, I'm stingy and wait for the 252/487 RP sales on skins I want to make my RP twice as efficient.

I heard Caitlyn was a pretty awesome champion and her ult is pretty awesome that's why I thought she would be a cool champion. Nidalee's spears are really damn strong when I built her AP so I might go with her.

 

Don't get me wrong, Caitlyn's plenty good, but is there really anything special about Caitlyn? Most AD carries are simple to understand by design. They have a (mostly) linear build path, require less experience to do well with, and help teach players how to last-hit. Caitlyn's no exception, while Nidalee has a much higher skill cap. I suspect you'll be having fun with her for far longer.

 

Caitlyn: Caitlyn is one of the strongest ADC's in the game right now. She can pretty much go neutral or win every lane. Despite this she is an ADC - Thus if you're looking to find a completely new champion to play then she might not be the best option. Definitely a strong consistent pick though.

Nidalee: Nidalee, particularly AP has a very unique play style. If you want to play a champion that's vastly different from your other champions then she's probably the way to go.

Ultimately it comes down to what you're looking for in your champion purchase.

In regards to IP/RP, I personally I bought 90% of my champions with IP. My reasoning is that if you play enough games you can unlock champions but you can't unlock skins, thus making skins more worthwhile to get with RP. I also love the visual effects but to some people it doesn't particularly matter.
